Week 13 of NCAA wrestling had its share of upsets. As usual, we have collected the top upset stories of the weekend and compiled all the upsets we could find. If you saw an upset we missed, please send an email to david.bray@flosports.tv so that we can include it. First, here are the biggest upset stories of the week.

Kennedy Monday Techs #3 McFadden, Leads UNC over Virginia Tech

North Carolina's Kennedy Monday beat #3 David McFadden 21-6 on Friday night. The tech fall was the best win of the year for Monday and only the second bonus-point loss of McFadden's career.

Monday's upset was one of three Tar Heel upsets in their dual with the Hokies. Additionally, Joey Melendez beat #12 Joey Prata for the second time in two seasons and #17 AC Headlee beat #11 BC LaPrade.

These three individual upsets pushed North Carolina, who had been ranked 12th in our NCAA Dual Rankings, past second-ranked Virginia Tech 23-10. 

Sasso Takes Out #1 Lugo and #4 Lee

The parity at 149 has made it one of this season's most exciting weight classes. Sammy Sasso ensured that we will have a new top-ranked 149-pounder this week with two big upsets on the weekend.

Sasso's first upset was a 2-1 overtime rideout over #1 Pat Lugo of Iowa. He followed that up on Sunday by avenging his most recent loss to #4 Brayton Lee in a dual against Minnesota.

Sasso has two losses this season which might keep him out of the top spot in the rankings as All-American Boo Lewallen remains undefeated on the season. There is a case to be made that Sasso should be #1 as he has avenged both of his losses and has the strongest collection of wins in the country. One thing is for sure: we will have a new #1 on Tuesday.

#6 Venz Beat Brooks, but #20 Caffey Didn't Care

Nebraska's Taylor Venz followed up last week's loss to Iowa true freshman Abe Assad by beating #10 Aaron Brooks in a dual with Penn State on Friday night. The win seemed to solidify a pecking order in the Big Ten at 184, but Michigan State's Cam Caffey obscured things by beating Venz on Sunday.

Venz took a 5-1 lead into the third period of that bout, but Caffey escaped, earned a takedown and eventually rode and turned Venz for the 9-6 win.

After Four Losses to #7 DeAugustino, Medley Turns the Tables

Michigan 125-pounder Jack Medley has some solid wins throughout his career, but Northwestern's Michael DeAugustino has controlled their series, earning four wins over Medley throughout their college careers.

That changed on Friday night when Medley finally got a win over DeAugustino in the final bout of the Michigan vs Northwestern dual with the team score in the balance.

Medley's upset and Michigan's win over Northwestern are positive signs for a Michigan Wolverine program that has been a bit down this year with three All-Americans in an Olympic redshirt.

Dangerous LaMont Decks Bridges

Utah Valley Junior Taylor LaMont was 8-5 heading into his matchup against #7 Montorie Bridges of Wyoming. He finished in the round of 12 at NCAA's as a freshman and has several wins over All-Americans.

He has one more after his Sunday afternoon fall over Bridges. In a dual that saw five falls in its first six matches, LaMont stole the show with a massive lefty headlock in the first period. He reminded the rest of the nation's 133-pounders how dangerous he is.
