Hunter Bolen and Lou DePrez met in last year's Southern Scuffle semifinals. Their first match was close but it was ultimately Bolen who came out on top 3-2. In the offseason, DePrez evened the score with an 11-0 technical superiority win in the third-place match at the 2019 U23 World Team Trials.

Bolen and DePrez met in a rubber-match in the consolation bracket at this year's Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Bolen went out to a 6-0 lead with a takedown and turn in the first period. DePrez looked dominant from the top position, but Bolen ultimately took the match 8-3.
