Every December, an insane amount of talent gets packed into cozy confines of the Walsh Jesuit Dome in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The quarterfinals are perhaps the most special round of all, as four mats feature future college stars simultaneously. It is perhaps the most fun you can have at a high school tournament.

The Quarterfinals will begin at about 6:45 PM ET (they will roll right into them after one more round of consolation bouts. Here are the quarterfinal matchups at the 2019 Walsh Jesuit Ironman wrestling tournament we're most looking forward to.


113: Brennen Cernus, Wyoming Seminary vs #9 Erik Roggie, St. Christopher`s

Another stud from powerhouse Wyoming Seminar (though Ohio native) vs a Super 32 pacer.


120: #12 Dustin Norris, La Salle vs Christopher Kim, Germantown Academy

Norris is headed to Purdue next year. Kim knocked off #9 Ryan Miller last week. 


126: #5 Ryan Crookham, Notre Dame vs Garett Lautzenheise, Louisville

Crookham has been out of action for a while due to injuries. This is his first major tournament since his return. 


126: #4 Dylan Ragusin, Montini Catholic vs Vince Cornella, Monarch

Ragusin is another future Wolverine that also trains at with the omnipresent wrestling club Izzy Style. 


126: Dylan Shawver, Elyria vs #14 Chris Barnabae, Mount Saint Joseph

A local northeast Ohioan and future Scarlet Knight will try and knock off a ranked Lehigh commit.


138: #1 Beau Bartlett, Wyoming Seminary vs Jake Niffenegger, La Salle

Can anyone stop all-everything Penn State prospect Beau Bartlett?


138: #8 Wyatt Henson, Waynesburg Central vs #7 Kenny Herrmann, Bethlehem Catholic

An evenly matched bout between two blue-chip recruits. Henson is going to Iowa and Herrmann just committed to Harvard this morning. Also a Super 32 rematch won by Herrmann in ultimate tie-breakers.


138: #7 Mick Burnett, Elyria vs #10 Frankie Tal Shahar, American Heritage School

Burnett is an Akron and Super 32 placer, and a Pitt recruit. Tal-Shahar is going to Northwestern.


145: #3 Lachlan McNeil, Wyoming Seminary vs Jackson Dean, Caesar Rodney

Super 32 champ and future Tar Heel McNeil takes on Dean, a Penn commit.


152: Vinny Zerban, Christian Brothers vs #8 Brayden Roberts, Parkersburg South

Roberts, a Super 32 placer, will stay home and attend West Virginia next fall. He'll look to avoid an upset from the very capable Zerban.


160: #6 Andrew Cerniglia, Notre Dame vs #10 AJ Kovacs, Iona Prep

Both Cerniglia and Kovacs are ranked at 152, though that will likely change. Cerniglia is going to Navy and Kovacs committed to NC State.


160: #6 John Martin Best, Parkersburg vs #9 Thomas Stewart, Blair Academy

Best placed at Fargo, Akron and Super 32. He'll take on yet another highly touted Blair product. 


170: #9 Nevan Snodgrass, Kettering Fairmont vs Ethan Anderson, Aurora

Snodgrass is a Fargo All-American headed to UNI. 


195: #10 Seth Shumate, Dublin Coffman vs #14 Emmanuel Skillings, Broken Arrow

Shumate has won just about every age-level competition there is. He will be tested by Skillings.


220: #8 Kyonte Hamilton, Georgetown Prep School vs #9 Noah Pettigrew, Blair Academy

Hamilton committed to Rutgers, while Akron placer Pettigrew has yet to announce his collegiate intentions.
