We've speculated all summer and now we finally have our answer. While meeting with local media this afternoon, John Smith announced that the plan is for Daton Fix to take an Olympic redshirt this season and he doesn't expect that plan to change.

Fix was the NCAA runner-up to Nick Suriano last year and then went on to beat Thomas Gilman at Final X - Lincoln to make the United States world team at 57kg. Fix turned in a 1-1 performance at the 2019 World Championships in Kazakhstan.

With Kaid Brock likely out for the season with a torn ACL, that leaves the Cowboys with Colt Newton, Andrew Nieman, Conner Wilson, and Reece Witcraft on the roster at 133.
