Additional points available at Yasar Dogu are 8 for a gold medal, 6 for silver medal, 4 for the two bronze medalists and 2 points will be awarded to the 5th place finishers that lose the bronze match. In addition to the place points 6, 8, or 10 points will be added depending on the size of the bracket. If the bracket is less than 10 competitors 6 points will be added, 8 will be added if the bracket is between 11 and 20, and 10 points will be added to the placement totals if the bracket contains greater than 20 wrestlers.

Seed Implications:

Three wrestlers could sneak into the top four in ranking series points for separation at the World Championships at 57kg. VANGELOV (BUL) and DAVIDOVI (ITA) are 8th and 9th in the current rankings with 28 and 26 points, and could move into the top four with a championship performance. It appears 16 points will be awarded to the champion with 11-20 entries expected. TAKAHASHI (JPN) and SANAYEV (KAZ) are currently in 3rd and 4th with 41 and 40 points earned. EDISHERASHVILI (AZE) currently sits 14th with 18 points.

ATLI has the top seed locked up and will look to improve upon his bronze medal finish at the 2018 World Championships. He will be the favorite in Istanbul and will look to please the home crowd.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#11 TOPAL (TUR)

#12 EHSANPOOR (IRI)

#19 AKTAS (TUR)

Seed Implications:

AWARE (IND), EHSANPOOR (IRI), and TOPAL (TUR) are all with 16 points of a top four seed, and could climb as high as second, depending on different representatives earning spots for the World Championships. Reigning World Champion BONNE RODRIGUEZ (CUB) has locked the top seed, but second ranked COLON (USA) won’t be representing the USA at the World Championships. 61kg could have a big shakeup from the results Yasar Dogu results. This tournament could play a big role in the bracket separation in Nur-Sultan.

Zain Allen RETHERFORD (USA)

John Michael DIAKOMIHALIS (USA)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#12 RETHERFORD (USA)

#13 DIAKOMIHALIS (USA)

Seed Implications:

KILICSALLAYAN (TUR) could move from his current 4th seed to the 2nd position with a championship performance. Originally locked top-seed and #1 ranked PUNIA of India was registered at 65kg, but switch to 70kg. ERDOGAN (TUR) (formerly Opan SAT) and MUSUKAEV (HUN) are Russian transfers in the field that should be a good measuring stick for the young Americans.

#5 KAYA (TUR)

#6 MUSTAFAEV (AZE)

#10 GADZHIEV (AZE)

#12 GREEN (USA)

#20 NASIRI (IRI)

Seed Implications:

KAYA (TUR), HUSSEN (EGY), and MUSTAFAYEV (AZE) are separated by two-point gaps with KAYA sitting at 20 points. All three could move into a separation position in the top four. LAKEL (ALG) currently has the most points in the field and could jump to the second seed as he enters with 28 points.  The top seed is locked if GAZIMAGOMEDOV (RUS) earns the spot at 70kg for his delegation.

2018 Yasar Dogu:

1. Frank CHAMIZO MARQUEZ (ITA)

2. Jordan Earnest BURROUGHS (USA)

3. Bolat SAKAEV (KAZ)

Registered Field:

Maher GHANMI (TUN)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#2 BURROUGHS (USA)

#3 CHAMIZO MARQUEZ (ITA)

#10 GOR (TUR)

#11 HOSSEINKHANI (IRI)

#12 DEMIRTAS (TUR)

Seed Implications:

CHAMIZO MARQUEZ (ITA) and BURROUGHS (USA) are the only two wrestlers that could move seed positions without someone in the top four not earning a spot on their team for the World Championships. GOR (TUR) would be able to move into the top four is the current seeds wouldn’t show up in Nur-Sultan. CHAMIZO MARQUEZ currently holds the second seed and would have to finish out of the top five to give BURROUGHS and chance to move past him. Certain scenarios could lead to both CHAMIZO MARQUEZ and BURROUGHS passing by current top seed SIDAKOV (RUS).

79kg

2018 Yasar Dogu:

1. Kyle Douglas DAKE (USA)

2. Ibrahim YUSUBOV (AZE)

3. Yabrail HASANOV (AZE)

Registered Field:

Foday KARGBO (SLE)

Akhsarbek GULAEV (SVK)

Ramazan Ishak SAR I(TUR)

Ender COSKUN (TUR)

Muhammet Nuri KOTANOGLU (TUR)

Alexander David DIERINGER (USA)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#3 DIERINGER (USA)

#6 HASANOV (AZE)

#7 TEYMOURI (IRI)

#19 ABAKAROV

Seed Implications:

HASANOV (AZE), BENFERDJALLAH (ALG), RANA (IND), DIERINGER (USA), KOTANOGLU (TUR),and  TEYMOURI (IRI) could all improve their spot in Nur-Sultan if they earn spots on their team for the World Championships. HASANOV is currently tied with top-seed DAKE (USA), but DAKE and DIERINGER will settle the spot for the USA in August. Current third seed GADZHIMAGOMEDOV (RUS) will miss the championships due to injury and open up a top four position. That makes the Yasar Dogu points very important to BENFERDJALLAH, RANA, DIERINGER, KOTANOGLU and TEYMOURI. They range between 28 and 20 points currently. It appears that between BENFERDJALLAH and RANA is the current cut line for a seed at the World Championships and lots of movement could happen with the final ranking series points.

86kg

2018 Yasar Dogu:

1. David Morris TAYLOR (USA)

2. Murad SULEYMANOV (AZE)

2. Boris MAKOEV (SVK)

3. Fatih ERDIN (TUR)

Registered Field:

Shamil ZUBAIROV (AZE)

Svetoslav Zhivkov DIMITROV (BUL)

Khaled Masoud Ismail ELMOATAMADAWI (EGY)

Taimuraz FRIEV NASKIDAEVA (ESP)

Patrik SZUROVSZKI (HUN)

Richard Ferenc LIGETI (HUN)

Deepak PUNIA (IND)

Hassan Aliazam YAZDANICHARATI (IRI)

Aligadzhi GAMIDGADZHIEV (KGZ)

Muhammad ALI (PAK)

Boris MAKOEV (SVK)

Ayoub BARRAJ (TUN)

Selim YASAR (TUR)

Osman GOCEN (TUR)

Fatih ERDIN (TUR)

James Patrick DOWNEY III (USA)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#1 YAZDANICHARATI (IRI)

#8 ERDIN (TUR)

#16 MAKOEV (SVK)

Seed Implications:

ERDIN (TUR) currently sits at the top of the seed standings and cannot be caught. YAZDANICHARATI (IRI) and MAKOEV (SVK) are currently third and fourth with 43 and 40 points, but TAYLOR (USA) is the current second seed and will not be representing the USA at the World Championships. NASKIDAEVA (ESP) is currently fifth and should be in a seed position currently. PUNIA (IND) is the only other competitor that could break into the top four as he sits 9th with 28 points currently and would have to gain 11 points on NASKIDAEVA.

92kg

2018 Yasar Dogu:

1. Mahammasjavad EBRAHIMIZIVLAEI (IRI)

2. Alireza Mohammad KARIMIMACHIANI (IRI)

3. Ivan YANKOUSKI (BLR)

3. Hajy RAJABAU (BLR)

Registered Field:

Mohammed FARDJ (ALG)

Sharif SHARIFOV (AZE)

Bendeguz TOTH (HUN)

Viky VIKY (IND)

Alireza Mohammad KARIMIMACHIANI (IRI)

Suleyman KARADENIZ (TUR)

Erhan YAYLACI (TUR)

Ibrahim BOLUKBASI (TUR)

J'Den Michael Tbory COX (USA)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#1 COX (USA)

#2 KARIMIMACHIANI (IRI)

#3 SHARIFOV (AZE)

Seed Implications:

A small, but very strong, field looks like it is going to prevent much movement in the seed standings. COX (USA) and KARIMIMACHIANI (IR) are locked at first and second if they are at the World Championships. BOLUKBASI (TUR) and VIKY (IND) could possibly move themselves into a seed position depending on representatives and they would need a championship performance at the Yasar Dogu.

97kg

2018 Yasar Dogu:

1. Aslanbek Alborov (AZE)

2. Mojtaba GOLEIJ (IRI)

3. Fatih YASARLI (TUR)

3. Kyle Frederick SNYDER (USA)

Registered Field:

Aslanbek ALBOROV (AZE)

Hosam Mohamed Mostafa MERGHANY (EGY)

Pavlo OLIINYK (HUN)

Balasz Attila JUHASZ (HUN)

Satywart KADIAN (IND)

Reza Mohammad Ali YAZDANI (IRI)

Abraham de Jesus CONYEDO RUANO (ITA)

Magomed MUSAEV (KGZ)

Mohamed BUNDU (SLE)

Rustam ISKANDARI (TJK)

Ibrahim CIFTCI (TUR)

Baki SAHIN (TUR)

Fatih YASARLI (TUR)

Kyle Frederick SNYDER (USA)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#2 SNYDER (USA)

#5 Alborov (AZE)

#9 YAZDANI (IRI)

#13 CIFTCI (TUR)

Seed Implications:

With certain results Yasar Dogu could provide fans with a highly anticipated matchup SNYDER (USA) and YAZDANI (IRI), as well as set them up on the same side of the bracket in Nur-Sultan. SNYDER needs just two points to pass SADULAEV (RUS) for the top seed and YAZDANI needs 7 points to pass the current fourth seed, ODIKADZE (GEO).  CONYEDO RUANO (ITA) currently sits ahead of Yazdani and is just 4 points behind ODIKADZE. ALBOROV (AZE) can’t get into a top-four position, but he has shown that he is more than capable to play the spoiler role at Yasar Dogu.

125kg

2018 Yasar Dogu:

1. Aleksander KHOTSIANIVSKI (UKR)

2. Yadollah Mohammadkazem MOHEBBI (IRI)

3. Nicholas Edward GWIAZDOWSKI (USA)

3. Danilo KARTAVYI (UKR)

Registered Field:

Seyed Mohammadreza AZARSHAKIB (AZE)

Khaled Omr Zaki Mohamed ABDALLA (EGY)

Ahmed Mahmoud Elsayed Mohamed KHALIL (EGY)

Mihaly NAGY (HUN)

Daniel LIGETI (HUN)

Sumit SUMIT (IND)

Komeil Nemat GHASEMI (IRI)

Farkhod ANAKULOV (TJK)

Taha AKGUL (TUR)

Abdullah OMAC (TUR)

Fatih CAKIROGLU (TUR)

Nicholas Edward GWIAZDOWSKI (USA)

Ranked Wrestlers:

#1 AKGUL (TUR)

#9 LIGETI (HUN)

#12 GWIAZDOWSKI (USA)

Seed Implications:

AKGUL (TUR), GWIAZDOWSKI (USA), LIGETI (HUN), SUMIT (IND) are tightly packed  in the fourth through eighth positions and just 14 point separating AKGUL and SUMIT. They will be fighting it out to earn the third and fourth seed positions as KHIZRIEV (RUS) is in the clubhouse with 50 points and sitting in the third position currently. The difference between the third and fourth seed is huge as AKGUL’s long-time rival and reigning World Champion PETRIASHVILI (GEO) has the top seed locked down.
