Brackets just dropped for the Junior World Team Trials. You can view them here on Arena. Action today goes all the way through the Challenge Tournament finals. Tomorrow the Challenge Tournament Champ will meet the JR US Open Champ in a Best-of-3 series to determine our World Team representative.

We rolled out our JR Trials Preview the other day. Now that brackets are up, we'll take a look at notable late entries or scratches, the interesting developments based on seeds and highlight the best early match ups. 


Entries

Anthony Cassioppi, who dominated his way through the Junior Open was a big favorite to win the HWT spot. He sat in the Best-of-3 finals but is not wrestling. Teammates Nelson Brands and Abe Assad - both 3rd at the Open, are also not entered. Patrick Glory (61) and Real Woods (65) are other notable US Open placers not wrestling here.

Jacori Teemer wrestled 70kg at the Open but was registered at 65. He's at 70 and is the 4 seed. 

The Open runner-up at 79kg, Shane Griffith, is at 74.


Seeding

57 - Last year's U23 Champ, Vito Arujau, is the #1 seed. He wrestled in the SR division at the Open.

61 - A runner-up here a year ago, Jordan Decatur is the 6 seed after not placing at the Open. 

70 - Teemer is the 4 seed

74 - 79kg Open Runner-up Shane Griffith is the 2 seed

92 - Kendall Norfleet who was a runner-up last at 86y ear didn't place at the Open. He bumped to 92 and is the 3 seed.

A wonderful Saturday night of wrestling in the books. The Nittany Lion Wrestling Club hosted an event taking on a variety of competitors, most from the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan. All-in-all it was 13 fun matches involving high level competitors.

The current #1 wrestler in the country at 220 lbs, #11 on the Class of 2022 Big Board — although I expect that to improve when David Bray updates the ranking — and the #14 P4P high schooler, Nick Feldman, is a National Prep champion out of powerhouse PA high school Malvern Prep. The Friars finished in third at both Ironman and National Preps behind historic programs in Blair and Wyoming Seminary. Feldman will put his #1 ranking on the line against Oklahoma State commit Kyle Haas October 3rd in Austin, TX, at Who’s #1.

$20k On The Line For FloWrestling's 195-Pound Tournament

On October 31, FloWrestling will be hosting an eight-man 195-pound tournament with over $41,000 in payouts. The champion will earn $20k, the runner-up will be awarded $10k, third-place will get $5k, fourth-place $4k, and fifth-eighth will all be awarded $1k.

Super 32 2020 is headed to the beach. Due to concerns regarding COVID-19 regulations, the tournament announced its decision to move to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in South Carolina via Twitter Wednesday evening.
