Michigan finished in fifth place at the 2019 NCAA Tournament scoring 62.5 points, 13.5 points behind fourth-place Iowa. Michigan will graduate 16.5 points from 157-Alec Pantaleo (15.5) and 149-Malik Amine (1).
With six qualifiers returning and a fourth-best 46 points returning, Michigan appears to be in good shape when the 2019-20 season rolls around. The Wolverines have a pair of third-place finishers in 133-Stevan Micic and 174-Myles Amine returning, both looking to become four-time All-Americans. Finishing in the Round of 12 were 165-Logan Massa (5.5) and 285-Mason Parris (6.5) as well as Round of 16 finishers 125-Drew Mattin (1.5) and 141-Kanen Storr (1.5).
2019-20 Michigan Projected Lineup
125: Drew Mattin, Austin Assad, Kurt McHenry
133: Stevan Micic, Joey Silva
141: Kanen Storr, Ben Freeman, Joey Silva
149: Kanen Storr, Ben Freeman
157: Will Lewan
165: Logan Massa
174: Myles Amine
184: Jelani Embree
197: Jackson Striggow, Andrew Davison
285: Mason Parris

No reason to think that Drew Mattin won't be the starter at 125 for Michigan next season, unless he decides to take his redshirt that is still available. He has been a Round of 16 guy both of his first two seasons for the Wolverines and is looking to break through to All-American status. Austin Assad will be a worthy backup should Mattin elect to redshirt, Assad appeared in three duals this past season. Michigan will bring in highly touted two-time UWW Cadet National Champion Kurt McHenry, but look for him to take an Olympic redshirt.

The two yet to be answered questions are: 1) does Stevan Micic qualify for an Olympic redshirt, and 2) if he does, does he take it? If he doesn’t, he would be the starter here for Michigan. His previous NCAA finishes are third, second, and fourth so he will look to be a four-time All-American. Michigan has a good one waiting in the wings in Joey Silva should Micic qualify and take an Olympic redshirt.

Kanen Storr comes off a Round of 16 performance at the NCAA Tournament and should be the clear favorite to start at 141. But I think you can see him possibly bumping up to 149 if it makes sense for the team. Michigan will have a few options but none appear that great other than Storr. Guessing Ben Freeman (141) or Ben Lamantia (149) will take the spot that Storr doesn’t. There is also a chance that we see Joey Silva at 141. If he can put on some good weight in the offseason, he may be the best option if Storr is at 149.

Will Lewan should fit in nicely replacing three-time All-American Alec Pantaleo having earned a win over Pantaleo while redshirting this past season. Look for highly ranked Cam Amine to come in and redshirt this coming season.
165 Pounds
Logan Massa will return at 165, the weight he has occupied for the past three seasons. Massa has finished off the podium the past two seasons but finished third in 2017.

174 Pounds
Myles Amine will look to become a four-time All-American having placed third, third, and fourth the past three years. His only losses this past season came to national champion Zahid Valencia and runner-up Mark Hall.

184 Pounds
Don’t think anyone will challenge Jelani Embree for the starting spot. Michigan will be looking for a lot more from Embree than his 0-3 Big Ten performance.
197 Pounds
Michigan will need more from Jackson Striggow if they want to compete for a trophy next season. Look for Andrew Davison to get a serious look if Striggow has any early struggles.
285 Pounds
Mason Parris started this past season in redshirt, but I don’t think you will see another starter at this weight for the next three years. Parris finished his true freshman season in the blood round and will only get better as he grows into the weight and gets more time on the mat with guys like Adam Coon. As long as Parris stays healthy, Michigan is in great shape at 285 for the foreseeable future.
