This year the heavyweight class gives us more storylines than just two World finalist banging heads for 7 minutes. I know, no big deal right (sarcasm). But honestly, at this year's Big Ten Championships some of the most compelling matchups to follow will be happening at 285. Starting at the top with undefeated true freshman Gable Steveson. The multiple time Cadet and Junior World Champion is entering his first Big Ten tournament and has the biggest target on his back, which has been there since before he made his season debut against Derek White.

Not only will all eyes be on Steveson, it will be on the entire bracket because it will be the first time that we could see some of them take place. The young Gopher may be sitting at the top of the rankings, but he has yet to face Penn State’s Anthony Cassar, Iowa’s Sam Stoll, Ohio State’s Chase Singletary and fellow true freshman Mason Parris of Michigan. Of this short list of competitors, it’s the match against Cassar that fan want to see the most. Luckily for us it will probably happen in the finals. 

Despite my declaration of a Steveson-Cassar final, the rest of this bracket is riddled with landmines for both of them and could certainly blow up the chances of them meeting in the finals. We’ve seen glimpses of the high school version of Chase Singletary at different point in the season. If he’s able to put it all together he can be a problem for most. 

Like I said, this bracket has it all. Athletic wrestlers, big time implications, heavy hitting potential matchups, youngsters looking to assert their dominance, you name it, it’s here.
