Folks, we're blogging it live, the Dual of the Century of the Year. And yes, both teams really are both ranked #3. Check out our NCAA team rankings if you don't believe us.

It's a few minutes before 1:00 PM CT and there are quite a few people inside the area. I will take a picture from my blogging station, post it on twitter and then plonk it down here for you to see for yourselves.

I am not sitting matside because Cyon stole my seat, but he outranks me so there's not much I could do about it. Also, the overflow media seats are still on the floor and quite close to the action, so please do not think I am complaining about my seat. About Cyon, though, I am complaining. How dare he?

Weigh-ins are done and there's a curveball coming at 165 for the Cowboys. Chandler Rogers weighed in at 174, as did Joseph Smith, so it will be either Jonce Blaylock or Andrew Shomers for Oklahoma State at 165.

We're less than 10 minutes out from introductions and Oklahoma State is taking that time to honor their seniors. The nearly capacity crowd (if it's not a sellout, it's going to be close) is on their feed.

Our national anthem just concluded so it's time to dim the lights. The crowd is palpably hyped up. Everyone on their feet to hear Marilyn Manson's 'The Beautiful People' usher in the Cowboys.

DeSanto is announced to rancorous boos. Fix receives thunderous applause. 133 is going to be, as the kids say, lit.

125: #2 Spencer Lee (Iowa) vs #4 Nick Piccininni (Oklahoma State)

1st period: There's the first whistle and we're underway. Lee goes right to a Russian tie. Now back to space. Lee in on a single, and once he's got his mitts on you he's hard to shake. Pich tries to cut the corner but Lee is too tight on his leg and they go out of bounds with no control for either wrestler. 0-0 after 2 minutes of wrestling. Now Pich is in on a single. He's got 40 seconds to finish. A quick stalemate whistle receives boos from the crowd. 20 seconds to go in the first. Pich in on another shot but Lee defends. We go to the second and the arena loudly applauds.

2nd period: Piccininni will start underneath. Pich tries to stand and peel hands but Spencer follows him and drags him back down. Pich stands again but Lee doing a good job adjusting and sticking to him. A restart a 1:17, still no scores. Lee dropping to a leg, gets a count but they go out of bounds before the official reaches five. John Smith and the crowd wants a stall call ut they don't get it. Now on the fourth or fifth attempt, Piccininni stands to his feet and gets the escape. Pich in on a shot, they're at the edge, no takedown called. 15 seconds to work, Pich gets a cradled locked up, loads him up and turns Lee. It's a pin! With 5 seconds left in the period Piccininni gets revenge on Lee from NCAAs and sends historic Gallagher-Iba Arena into a frenzy!

My goodness, that's one way to start a dual meet. As I type that two young gentlemen carrying four 16 oz adult beverages strut by hollering in orange sweaters.

OSU 6, Iowa 0

133: #3 Austin DeSanto (Iowa) vs #2 Daton Fix (Oklahoma State)

1st period: The second match is arguably the main event and folks, this place is pumped for it. Collar ties and a lot of shoving but not a lot of committed attacks in the first 90 seconds. DeSanto pressuring in, as is his style, Fix pushing right back. DeSanto shoots Fix out of bounds and the Iowa bench wants a stall call. So does DeSanto, as he walks back to the inner cirlce holding up a stall fist. More boos from the crowd. No scores though as we go to the second.

2nd period: Fix starts on bottom. He stands at the whistle, DeSanto can't mat return him and Fix slips from his grasp after 21 seconds to score the first point. Constant pressure from DeSanto. He appears to be controlling ties. Fix looking for an opening but Austin is making it difficult for him. A deep shot in short time for Fix gets DeSanto on his hip but no takedown is called. Time expires before a call is made and I believe this will go to review. And it is going to be looked at. No takedown. We go to the 3rd period, still 1-0 Fix.

3rd period: Fix stymies DeSanto's first stand attempt and now has two boots in with DeSanto's belly on the mat. Riding time mounting for Fix. I can't see the clock but the crowd tells me it's over a minute now for Fix. Daton still riding tough. 20 seconds and everyone in the arena is on their feet cheering for the rideout. DeSanto looking for the reversal, has Daton's leg, under 10 to go. DeSanto can't convert, Fix prevails 2-0 after a massive second-period ride out. No extracurriculars afterward (that I could see) but more boos from the crowd.

OSU 9, Iowa 0

141: Max Murin (Iowa) vs #14 Kaid Brock (Oklahoma State)

1st period: Brock strikes first with a duck under, but he doesn't have the two yet. Drops to a leg and now he's got the takedown. 2-0 Kaid as they go out of bounds. Brock can't sink his boots in and Murin escapes to cut the deficit to 1. Murin shoots and Brock defends and attempts a go-behind. Murin holds on to a leg and gets a stalemate, still 2-1. The famous riff from Pantera's 'Walk' plays as they both return to neutral. Collar ties but no more scores to end the period.

2nd period: Murin chooses down. Murin escapes after about 20 seconds or so, riding time till not a factor. Brock in on a high crotch, might try to finish in a fireman's. They scramble but no scores and we're stalemated back to neutral. Another scramble and Brock collects both of Murin's legs for two more with 30 seconds left in the period. It's 4-2, but a quick escape makes it 4-3. Brock has 1:02 of RT.

3rd period: Brock gets a shot on bottom. Brock can't escape in 2 seconds so he loses riding time but he does get out fairly quickly. Then Brock shoots and scores again to make it 7-3. A potentially dangerous call stops action but Brock has RT over a minute again. They stop for PT again and there goes the Iowa bench challenge brick. Tom Brands and John Smith meet with the officials and the crowd loves it. I think they want the coaches to wrestle. We get some AC/DC and then Sandstorm as we wait for the official review. Call is confirmed, no points, just potentially dangerous. So, not sure what was even challenged to be honest. Action resume and Brock has Murin flat on the mat. 60 seconds left in regulation. A mat return out of bounds and its still 7-3 with 51 seconds to go. Nex time Murin is able to escape. It's 7-4 and Murin goes right in on a single leg. Brock tries to roll out of it but Murin times it and covers for two/ Its 7-6 with 20 seconds left in the match, but RT is locked up for Brock. Murin won't cut him, he'll try for a turn. Murin has a half in, rolls through and tries to catch Brock but they roll all the way over, no nearfall swipes and the crowd exhales as Kaid Brock manages to hold on for the decision.

OSU 12, Iowa 0

149: #11 Pat Lugo (Iowa) vs #6 Kaden Gfeller (Oklahoma State)

1st period: Lugo will try to reverse the Hawkeye fortunes. It would be a mild upset if he pulls it off, although he is coming off a nice top 20 win over Cole Martin while Gfeller lost to Brock Mauller last week. Lugo takes the first shot on a sweep single and they get in a scramble. Lugo has Gfeller's back exposed past 90 degrees for a two count so he gets the no control takedown. Gfeller keeps scrambling, though and eventually the reversal to make it 2-2. An Escape from Lugo makes it 3-2 with 30 seconds left in the period, RT not a factor. Gfeller in on a shot in short time but time expires.

2nd period: G goes underneath to start the second stanza. Gfeller again showing scrambling proficiency and scores another reversal to take the 4-3 lead. Lugo escapes to knot things up 4-4. Lugo back in on a shot and has Gfeller in trouble, he'll score a takedown to make it 6-4 and the lead changes again. G tries a granby but Lugo adroitly follows and maintains control. He's got 49 seconds of riding time as we go to the third. Lugo leads 6-4 still.

3rd period: It's Lugo's turn on bottom and he escapes in 8 seconds to extend his lead to 3, the largest of the match so far. Gfeller shoots a low single, picks it up, but he can't finish as Lugo shows off some crafty defense. 30 seconds left in regulation. Lugo's defense is too stout for the rest of the match and Gfeller can't get anywhere near his legs. Iowa will get their first win!

OSU 12, Iowa 3

157: #7 Kaleb Young (Iowa) vs Wyatt Sheets (Oklahoma State)

1st period: Iowa will try to make up some more ground in the middleweights. Action is underway between the ranked Hawkeye and the unranked -but on the bubble- Cowboy. Young shoots first and is in on a single, Sheets tries to cut the corner, but Young scrambles out of danger and holds on to the single leg. Young eventually collects the second leg for two points. Sheets is instantly up to make it 2-1. A little over a minute left in the first. No more scores for the rest of the period and we go to the second.

2nd period: Young chooses down. Young is out quickly and then right back in on a double, switches to a single. He finishes cleanly to push the lead to 4. It's 5-1 Young. Sheets getting to his base but having trouble getting to his feet as Young puts a tough ride on him. Sheets is finally able to peel hands and escapes with riding time a hair under a minute, standing at 59 seconds. It remains there as the second period expires.

3rd period: Sheets chooses bottom so RT will creep over a minute. Sheets is out in 14 seconds, cutting the lead to 5-3. Now a hands to the face call gives Sheets a 6-3 lead. Sheets charging ahead, a scramble but no scores. Less than a minute to go. Sheets with a shot but Young timed it and drags behind for two. Sheets stays active and gets a reversal to make it 8-5, but time is running out and RT is locked up. Sheets can't get any turns and Young gets a strong 9-5 decision.

OSU 12, Iowa 6

Just announced that we have an official sell out here in Gallagher-Iba. Very nice!

165: #2 Alex Marinelli (Iowa) vs Jonce Blaylock (Oklahoma State)

1st period: Another opportunity for Hawkeye team points, potentially bonus. Shot and re-shot early from the Bull gives him a quick two and now ride begins. A three-quarter nelson and tremendous pressure from Marinelli flips Blaylock and Marinelli holds him there for a two count. 4-0 in favor of Marinelli. Blaylock is dinged for stalling. Marinelli tries to come out front for the cement job but Jonce resists. An armbar into a cement job gives a four count for Marinelli. Marinelli loads Blaylock up with the same move again and this time he sticks him. The Hawkeyes get big bonus points and are right back in the match!

OSU 12, Iowa 12

174: Mitch Bowman (Iowa) vs #11 Chandler Rogers (Oklahoma State)

1st period: John Smith has a pair of two-time All-americans to choose from and he went with the one bumping up rather than cutting down. It's Rogers and Bowman, now underway. Rogers shoots first, nearly gives up the counter go behind but gets to neutral in time. The next shot also comes from Rogers but also can't score. The next attack is from Bowman but now it's Rogers that counters and he successfully gets the takedown. It's 2-0, but we're going to review it. The call stands, looked pretty clear. But Tom brands and John Smith are back out talking the officials. Not sure about what. Anyway, back in action, Bowman is up and out and it's 2-1 Rogers. Bowman has double unders and locks up a bear hug but against Rogers that can be dangerous as Rogers takes the double overs and lateral drops Bowman to his back. Bowman fights back to his belly without giving up back points but it's two more for Rogers. An escape makes it 4-2. Hands to the face is called on Bowman giving Rogers another point. An action-packed period ends with Rogers leading 5-2.

2nd period: Rogers chooses down. He's out almost instantly to make it 6-2. Bowman in on a couple shots but Rogers sprawls and eats up some valuable clock. Under a minute left in the second period. Period ends, Rogers still with the four point lead. Riding time at 27 seconds.

3rd period: Bowman's turn on bottom. A caution on Rogers and Bowman is out. Double leg from Rogers gives him an 8-3 lead. Rogers has an assassin locked in. Rogers' completes the assassination! The crowd explodes. Huge bonus points for the Cowboys just as Iowa had closed the gap.

OSU 18, Iowa 12

184: #14 Cash Wilcke (Iowa) vs #11 Jacobe Smith (Oklahoma State)

1st period: Wilcke was a bloodrounder two years in a row at 197. Jacobe was an All-American last season at 174. This is a pivotal bout. Jacobe in on a single and nearly has the second leg but Wilcke wrestles out of it and it's still scoreless. 90 seconds left in the first period. A tense but scoreless 90 seconds ensue and we go to the second period 0-0.

2nd period: Jacobe escapes without much difficulty and immediately goes in on a shot. He finishes a shallow high crotch for two and a 3-0 lead. Wilcke is out quickly after a restart to make it 3-1. Jacobe backs Wilcke up with a shot and Wilcke gets hit with a stall warning. No other scores in the period.

3rd period: Wilcke will go underneath. He collects his second caution before a clean start and subsequent escape to close the gap. In neutral Jacobe is in on a single and a one point lead. Jacobe catches that second leg and extends his lead. It's 5-2, now 5-3 with the escape from Wilcke. Jacobe in on another shot and Wilcke has his hands in Jacobe's face right in front of the official. It's an easy hands to the face call and costly. It's 6-3. Wilcke attacks but can't convert. Now Jacobe with a very near takedown on the edge. It's waved off to loud boos but there's only 2 seconds left. Jacobe will take it via decision and the Cowboys take a big 9 point lead with just two weight classes remaining.

OSU 21, Iowa 12

197: #4 Jacob Warner (Iowa) vs #6 Preston Weigel (Oklahoma State)

1st period: We'll learn a lot about the health of Preston Weigel from this match as the senior prepares for his final NCAA run. Warner takes the first committed shot but it's right at the out of bounds and they'll restart with no score. Weigel drops in on a leg, looking to switch to a double, now he cracks back and collects the two. Both wrestlers pick up cautions after a restart. Warner active on bottom but Weigel following him. Riding time climbs up over a minute after a big mat return. Warner gets his escape with about 40 seconds left in the period. Riding time at 1:10. Now Warner has a single and Weigel is saved by the out of bounds without giving up the takedown. Time expires in the period and Weigel clings to a 1 point lead.

2nd period: Warner goes back underneath. Warner to his feet but Weigel rides him back to the mat with a thud. RT clock keeps ticking up for Weigel as the Iowa bench wants to see stalling called on Weigel. In a sit out position Weigel locks his hands and he'll concede a point to Warner on the mistake. It's 2-2 and coach Smith wants an explanation from the officials. After a brief chat and a warning against OK State's bench and we're back in action. Another huge mat return at the one minute mark of the period. Warner back to his feet, trying to peel hands. Weigel can't return him this time and he gets hit for stalling, looks like for the second time, and Warner takes a 3-2 lead. The crowd, not surprisingly, wants stalling called on Warner instead. Warner back up to his feet, Weigel lclose to getting hit again but gets the mat return in time. 6 seconds left in the period. Weigel gets one last mat return for the second period ride out, but is trailing 3-2.

3rd period: Riding time at over 3 minutes and is locked up for Weigel, who starts the period on bottom. Warner riding Weigel tough now. He'll need a ride out to get to overtime. Or a stall call on Weigel, which the Iowa bench is asking for, would be helpful. From out of now where there's a burst of energy from Weigel and he sits, grabs a leg and reverses Warner for a huge two points. 30 seconds to go now on the restart as the crowd is on their feet. A win here clinches it for Oklahoma State. Weigel rides out the period and will finish his career in Gallagher-Iba with a victory. Standing ovation from a sold out Gallagher-Iba.

Oklahoma State will win the dual.

OSU 24, Iowa 12

285: #7 Sam Stoll (Iowa) vs #2 Derek White (Oklahoma State)

1st period: Final match of the afternoon. Hawkeye fans might not agree but I think the general consensus will be that the dual of the century of the year has lived up to it's billing. Collar ties and handfighting but a typically cautious and circumspect first two minutes of wrestling. No scores. Level change and duck under in short time for White allows him to get behind Stoll and grab a leg. Another hand on the waist of Stoll and it's a big takedown for White. A quick rideout makes it 2-0 going into the second.

2nd period: White chooses down. Stoll riding tough and White can't escape after 39 seconds. A few restarts and cautions has a rowdy crowd booing. White's to his feet and Stoll can't bring him down in time to avoid a stall call. It's still 2-0 White after a minute, riding time close to a minute for Stoll. White working hard to escape, Stoll working hard to follow, but now White has another point on the escape. It's 3-0, though Stoll does have 1:05 of RT.

3rd period: Stoll chooses down for the final period of regulation in this most excellent dual meet. Stoll is out quickly but not quick enough to preserve RT, its now at 0:57. Sixty-eight seconds left in regulation and the crowd is getting behind White. 30 seconds to go. White continues to frustrate Stoll. 10 seconds. That will do it. Another victory for the Cowboys who take 7 out of 10 matches from the Hawkeyes.

OSU 27, Iowa 12
