133-pounds is quickly establishing itself as the most exciting weight class in the NCAAs as upsets abound in an environment of ever-increasing parity. Case in point, Iowa's Austin DeSanto just knocked off Nick Suriano of Rutgers in Carver-Hawkeye Arena last Friday, handing the New Jerseyan his second loss in as many matches.

Watch DeSanto get the buzzer beater takedown for the victory in the video below:

The Chaos Of 133 Pounds

Things started heating up in week 5 of the season when we saw Iowa State's redshirt freshman Austin Gomez defeat DeSanto. That same week, Pitt's Micky Phillippi beat All-Americans Ethan Lizak of Minnesota and Luke Pletcher of Ohio State before falling to Nick Suriano in the finals of the CKLV

In week 9, NC State's Tariq Wilson took a loss to Indiana's Paul Konrath. The following week, Tariq injury defaulted out of a match with Luke Pletcher and has not wrestled since.

But things really started getting wild in week 11, when DeSanto beat Lizak and Oklahoma State's Daton Fix beat the previously undefeated Nick Suriano.

Things didn't slow down this weekend. Besides the aforementioned DeSanto-Suriano bout, we also saw Phillippi beat the previously undefeated Fix in Pittsburgh, and Gomez suffer a stunning upset by Rider's Anthony Cefolo via pinfall. Not to mention reigning national champion Seth Gross of South Dakota State announced he was having season-ending surgery and is done for the year. And the weekend's not even over yet!

In summary, here's how the top of 133-pounds looks before Sunday's matches:

Phillippi: Beat Fix; Lost to Suriano

Fix: Beat Suriano, Lizak & Gomez; Lost to Phillippi

DeSanto: Beat Suriano & Lizak; Lost to Gomez

Suriano: Beat Phillippi; Lost to DeSanto & Fix

Gomez: Beat DeSanto; Lost to Cefolo

We also have Michigan's undefeated Stevan Micic, who made the NCAA finals last year but has seen his action limited this year with his best win being either Dylan Duncan of Illinois or Brandon Paetzell of Lehigh.

Lizak, Pletcher and Missouri's John Erneste provide a modicum of order as Pletcher beat Lizak and Lizak beat Erneste and none of them have wins over any of the gentlemen mention above.

So what will the rankers do with this mess? Besides pull their hair, gnash their teeth and rend their garments, we're not totally sure, but we'll all find out on Tuesday!
