Sound good? Great, here we go!

Just waiting on the basketball game that's currently occupying BTN to end so we can start the main event.

Basketball just ended and they did not hold up the dual, so we tune in to the 133-pound match in the 2nd period.

125 Pounds

Nick Denora, Rutgers vs #2 Spencer Lee, Iowa

133 Pounds

#3 Nick Suriano, Rutgers vs #8 Austin DeSanto, Iowa

1st period: No scores, but both wrestlers were hit with a stall call.

2nd period: Suriano starts underneath and escapes quickly. Suriano goes right into a double leg and makes it 3-0. DeSanto escapes after about 30 seconds. Suriano looking for a go-behind but DeSanto does a good job squaring up. 2nd period ends 3-1.

3rd period: DeSanto on bottom. Suriano drops to a leg to continue the RT clock but gets hit for stalling to knock the lead down to one. DeSanto gets to his feet and Suriano gets hit again for stalling to tie it up. Suriano got riding time up over a minute though. Suriano cuts him with about a minute to go. DeSanto taking ground and the crowd wants stalling. They go out of bounds but no stall. 23 seconds left on the restart. Again DeSanto taking ground but not taking and real shots. And then he snatches a leg and Suriano is in trouble. Suriano drops to his hip and DeSanto covers just as time expires. And it's a huge upset for Austin DeSanto, who hands Nick Suriano his second loss in two matches, this one by the score of 6-4.

DeSanto was pumped after the win, as was the Carver-Hawkeye crowd.

Iowa 9, Rutgers 0

Last period and a half of Suriano/DeSanto:

141 Pounds

Peter Lipari, Rutgers vs #19 Max Murin, Iowa

1st period: Shot by Lipari but Murin defends. A shot and then a reattack gives Murin the first points of the bout. Takedown makes it 2-0. Lipari able to get to his feet but gets mat-returned or run out of bounds before he can escapes. Lipari going for a switch but Murin does a good job staying behind and keeping the riding time clock running in his favor. Lipari finally gets out before the period expires.

2nd period: Lipari starts on bottom losing 2-1. Lipari stands and escapes at the edge of the mat to tie the score. Murin in on a shot and Lipari is banged for stalling. Murin held on to Lipari's leg and now drags him to the center and covers when Lipari tries to roll through. Lipari is out quickly to make it 4-3 but Murin has over a minute and a half of RT. Time runs out before Murin can finish a takedown in short time and we go to the third.

3rd period: Murin gets a turn on bottom and escapes before Lipari can work that riding time clock down. A perfectly timed low double legsends Lipari to the mat and Murin collects two more. He cuts Lipari and is thinking bonus with a little over a minute left to wrestle. It's 7-4 with riding time nearly locked up. Murin trying to rack up some points but Lipari is hanging tough and countering well. Time expires and Lipari holds things to a regular decision. Murin wins 8-4.

Iowa 11, Rutgers 0

Apparently, DeSanto's celebration was a little too exuberant for the officials' taste and the Hawkeyes were dinged a team point. Perhaps it was something DeSanto said, as there was some jawing after the match. DeSanto is the first person to takedown Suriano all season.

149 Pounds

#2 Anthony Ashnault, Rutgers vs #16 Pat Lugo, Iowa

1st period: Lugo going to try and keep things rolling for the Hawkeyes but he's got three-time NCAA All-American Anthony Ashnault to contend with. Action on the edge of the mat but no scores after 2 minutes. Time expires and it's a scoreless first.

2nd period: Lugo begins in the bottom position. Ashnault has been a killer on top all season. He's got Lugo broken down flate and is looking for near fall. Lugo squirming away from Ashanult but Ashnault traps him with his back exposed. Did Ashnault get a two count before Lugo was on off the mat and on the hardwood? No back points were awarded but coach Goodale wants a challenge. Call is not overturned and Lugo gets up and out on the restart. Riding time just over a minute for Ashanult. The second period ends in collar ties and 1-0 on the scoreboard in favor of Lugo.

3rd period: Ashanult goes underneath and needs to escape in 3 seconds to maintain the RT over a minute. He does not escape in 3 seconds. Ashanult stands and is out with 70 some seconds to go. RT no longer a factor. Crowd starting to get into it as we round the final 60 seconds. Can Iowa upset both of Rutgers' stars? 30 seconds left of regulation. A couple attacks from both wrestlers and Lugo nearly catches Ashnault in a pancake but we end the period all knotted up. Bonus wrestling!

Sudden victory: Ashnault goes shrug to an ankle pick to a go-behind. Lugo tries to granby roll but Ashnault follows him and gets the victory. Rutgers is on the board thanks to the 3-1 decision by Ashnault.

Iowa 11, Rutgers 3

157 Pounds

#15 John Van Brill, Rutgers vs #5 Kaleb Young, Iowa

1st period: Young has earned his top 5 rankings with an impressive redshirt sophomore season so far. Van Brill is the underdog but don't count him out until the match is officially over. JVB can hit the funky pinning combinations at any time. And they're into some funk now. Van Bill gets put in danger and after a four-count Young picks up the first points. It's 2-0 with 30 seconds left in the period. Young nearly rides out but Van Brill escapes just in time. It's 2-1.

2nd period: Young starts down. Van Brill locks up a cradle but can't get a turn, instead Young capitalizes on the ensuing flurry and reverses for two more. He rides out the period to make it 4-1 as we head to the 3rd.

3rd period: Van Brill stands and Young can't return him in time to avoid a stall call. Van Brill reaching back for a throw but it's not there. They restart with 90 seconds left. Van Brill looking for a reversal, maybe something to put Young on his back. Van Brill stands and Young cuts him. Young is up by 2 and has riding time nearly locked up. They tumble into a scramble which is fine by Kaleb Young because it effectively kills the clock. Time expires and Young picks up another ranked win. Iowa cruising.

Iowa 14, Rutgers 3

And we break at the mid-point of the dual meet. It's been almost all Hawkeyes in Iowa City. DeSanto over Suriano is the headline thus far, and I don't see that changing no matter happens in the next five bouts.

BTN treats us to a fun segment "A Day in the Life of Jacob Warner." It seems to consist of mostly chilling with your roomies, eating lunch with your pals, and then wrestling with one of the best college teams in the nation. Pretty good life!

165 Pounds

Anthony Oliveri, Rutgers vs #2 Alex Marinelli, Iowa

1st period: Stephen Glasgow gets a break, so it's Oliveri for Rutgers against Marinelli. Marinelli wastes no time, scoring with a single leg and then a double leg to make it 4-1 in about 30 seconds. An escape, a stall on Oliveri, and another takedown by Marinelli and its 6-2 after leftt than 90 seconds. Marinelli slaps in a bulldog (or three-quarter nelseon, who perhaps you call it something else?) and flips Oliveri over for four nearfall points. Then with arm barred up Marinelli takes a big step over Oliveri's head, figure-fours it and gets the pinfall. 6 more points for the Hawkeyes!

Iowa 20, Rutgers 3

174 Pounds

Joseph Grello, Rutgers vs Mitch Bowman, Iowa

1st period: It's Grello against Bowman so we should see Willie Scott at 184, Nick Gravina did not make the trip with the Rutgers team as injuries continue to hold him back. Grello with a high-c and eventually converts after Bowman fought him off with a whizzer. One mat return later and Grello is still riding with a 2-0 lead. Bowman escapes before RT climbs too high. It's 2-1 with a minute left in the period. Grello with a sweep single that connects but Bowman sprawls and gets a stalemate. Now in short time of the 1st. Coach Goodale can be heard instructing Grello to shoot. Time runs out and it's still 2-1.

2nd period: Grello goes underneath in the second. Grello getting to his feet but can't clear Bowman's hands. Bowman able to stymie two more stand attempts. More of the same after a minute. No stall calls either. Grello able to catch a leg and slowly but surely finds away to score the reversal on the edge of the mat. Grello now working the RT that Bowman had accumulated down. Grello able to ride out the period so it's 4-1 as we go to the final period.

3rd period: Bowman thinks about going neutral but then decides to go back down. Bowman stands and then collapses to his hips and tries to hesit them over Grello. Grello regains his balance though and is back in the saddle. Grello maintains control as we round the final 60 seconds, Grello still up by 3. Looks like a locked hands call got by the officials and Iowa coaches just before Grello gets warned for stalling. A restart with a little under 30 to go. Riding time is locked up just as Bowman gets a reversal and it's 5-3. Bowman cuts him to look for a hail mary with 3 seconds to go but its not enough time. Grello wins 6-3 (I think the riding time was awarded, but its academic). Rutgers with their second win of the night.

Iowa 20, Rutgers 6

184 Pounds

Willie Scott, Rutgers vs #17 Cash Wilcke, Iowa

1st period: We get underway after a nice shot of a large Carver-Hawkeye crowd. I understand the weather is less than ideal right now so kudos to the fans that braved the elements to attend this dual. A shot nearly lands butWilcke had driven Scott off the mat and underneath the basketball hoop. Now Wilcke gets the takedown. Scott escapes to make it 2-1. And that's how the period ends.

2nd period: Wilcke starts underneath. Scott with a two-on-one, nearly gets some swipes on a tilt but Wilcke fights off his back and eventually fights for the reversal. 4-1 Wilcke with a minute left in the second. Wilcke tries a chin drop but Scott avoids giving up near fall. He is broken down flat, however, and time runds out with the score still 4-1.

3rd period: Scott picks top. He needs to ride for about 45 seconds to get the clock under a minute. Wilcke has the clear size advantage and muscles his way out with the RT clock sitting at 1:13. 5-1 with less than a minute to go. Scott drives Wilcke nearly out of bounds on a shot but Wilcke wrestles back to the center. A good flurry but no scores with 20 seconds to go. Scott with an excellent effort but it's not enough and Wilcke cruises to a 6-1 victory.

Iowa 26, Rutgers 6

197 Pounds

Matthew Correnti, Rutgers vs #5 Jacob Warner, Iowa

1st period: Correnti thinking upper body early but Warner won't give him the ties he wants. Heavy hands from both guys. Not quite throwing punches but coming close to that point. Warner the favorite but Correnti not acting like it with his hand fighting. Correnti with a few ankle picks that do nothing and Warner with his best chance to score but it happens as time expires. Scoreless period.

2nd period: Warner starts on bottom. Warner keeps popping up to his feet but Correnti finds a way to maintain control. After 48 seconds Warner sits out after a mat return to earn the escape. Warner leads 1-0. Warner looks high-c but Correnti wrestled out of danger.

3rd period: Correnti's turn on bottom. Warner gets a big mat return with 1:32 left in regulation. Warner has Correnti flat and is thinking about a ride out victory. He won't need to ride out anymore as he a roll-through two-on-one tilt gives him four huge points and probably the match. It's 5-0 and Warner gets the rideout and the 6-0 victory.

Iowa 26, Rutgers 6

285 Pounds

Christian Colucci, Rutgers vs #5 Sam Stoll, Iowa

1st period: And with the dual meet long since clinched, out walks Sam Stoll! This will be just the fourth match of the Hawkeye big man's final season. Arm drag/snap down gives Stoll two. Colucci is flat and can't get to his base. He gets hit for stalling with less than a minute remaining in the first. Another stall call on Colucci gives Stoll a 3-0 lead, which Stoll will take into the second after he rides out the remaining time.

2nd period: Colucci has had enough of being on bottom and chooses neutral. Stoll drives Colucci out of bounds Colucci picks up his third stall call and gives up his second point. It's 4-0 as the audiance all start making a kind of bird call in unison? I've never heard this noise before, but many people in Carver-Hawkeye are doing it. Another big arm drag by Stoll and he's got two more. It's 6-0 and Colucci needs to worry about getting stalled out of the match.

3rd period: Stoll chooses bottom for the final period of the match. The "Woos!" continue from the crowd. Stoll escapes to make it 7-0. Just a minute to go, riding time is locked up, Stoll looking for a major decision now. Shot by Colucci gives Stoll a go-behind in short time and he'll take this match 10-0. The Iowa Hawkeyes dominate the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at home in Iowa City!

Iowa 30, Rutgers 6
