There were so many duals last, one could scarcely keep up with them. Thankfully, a few days have transpired since all the happenings and we've had ample time to take stock of all the occurrences. As such, we present this week's D1 Stock Report.

2018-19 NCAA Rankings

Stock Is Up

157: B.C. LaPrade, Virginia Tech

From Unranked to #16

Don't tell BC not to fly, he's simply got to. BC beat top 10 Larry Early and the dangerous Jake Keating at the Virginia Duals, allowing LaPrade to parade into the top 20 for the first time this season. So take your cloud and buzz off.

197: Josh Hokit, Fresno State

From Unranked to #16

Sometimes, wrestlers have a slow start to the season due to injuries, or because they are young and developing, or, as in the case of Josh Hokit, because they are playing football for the champion of the Mountain West and Las Vegas Bowl, the Fresno State Bulldogs. Hokit's most recent win over three-time All-American Willie Miklus of Iowa State was enough to get him his first top 20 ranking of his wrestling career.

The Hokit-Miklus match begins at about 1:22 into the full match replay below.

133: Daton Fix, Oklahoma State

From #6 to #2

You heard about Fix's match with Nick Suriano, right? I figure if you're reading this article then you've definitely already heard about it, so I'm just going to move on, but I'll also post the match below if you'd like to re-watch it.

149: Cole Martin, Wisconsin

From #13 to #9

Breaking into the top 10 at this point in the season takes a solid resume and a decent upset. Cole Martin attained both after he took out Penn State's highly touted redshirt freshman Brady Berge in last weekend's excellent dual meet between the Nittany Lions and Badgers

Stock Is Down

141: Sam Krivus, Virginia

From #11 to #15

The dual meet tournament that shares a namesake with Krivus' wrestling team was not kind to the junior 141-pounder. Losses to a pair of unranked opponents, Kyle Shoop of Lock Haven and Mitch Moore of Virginia Tech, sent Krivus down four spots in the top 20. 141 may have the most parity of any of the weight classes, with far more wrestlers worthy of a ranking than there are places for them.

285: Sam Stoll, Iowa

From #1 to #5

There is no rankings precedent for what to do with an All-American who suffers a unique offseason injury and then is undefeated 11 weeks into the season but only wrestled one dual meet and two matches of a tournament before defaulting out. The ranking handbook offers paltry guidance for such instances. So Sam Stoll falls behind Amar Dhesi, who out-placed him at the 2018 NCAA tournament, but whose senior season resume also provides circumstances about which said handbook is useless. Quibble with the move if you must, but please know that nothing would please the rankers more than if Sam Stoll recovers fully and returns to the podium in Pittsburgh.
