If you’re missing some funky wrestling, you’ll find it at the Lindenwood Open this weekend. If you’re missing the young talent, then Lindenwood has you covered there too. And if you still aren’t jazzed up enough with the first two weeks of the college season, then the Lindenwood Open will get you going with the amount of talent that’s slated to be in the mix there this weekend.

With all that being said, here are few more reasons why you should tune in.

Redshirts To Watch

Ohio State will be sending their stud freshman to this year’s tournament. Malik Heinselman (125), Quinn Kinner (141), Sammy Sasso (149), Gavin Hoffman (184) will all be wrestling. Also, freshman David Carr will be competing at 157 along with Northwestern’s Erich Byelick and SIUE’s Justin Ruffin to name a few others in the weight class which is absolutely stacked. And you can’t forget about Nelson Brands, who is entered at 165 and fellow Hawkeye Tony Cassioppi at 285.

2018 Fargo Freestyle Champ Danny Braunagel will be at 165 while his brother, Zach, who left Fargo with a Greco stop sign, will be wrestling at 174. In addition to Byelick, Northwestern true freshmen Jack Jessen (184) and Lucas Davison (197) will be competing as well. Junior world team member Zach Elam of Missouri will be at heavyweight and his teammate Brock Mauler.

Austin Gomez Is Back

Gomez had to forfeit his spot on the Junior World Team due to injury and was sidelined for a bit. He made his season debut a week ago and came out the gate firing with an 18-3 first period tech fall. Now he will be digging in for a full day of competition.

141 Will Be Fun

The always exciting Jaydin Eierman will be doing what he does this weekend. But he’s got some pretty good competition that will be gunning for him. Also included in the field is Mike Carr, who took on Eierman in the team’s first dual of the year and finished up a 12-10 actionfest that ended in Eierman’s favor. Add in Iowa’s Carter Happel, Vince Turk and Justin Stickley, Kinner from Ohio State, and Iowa State’s Ian Parker and you’ve got a pretty good party.

Miklus’ Return

Last year Willie Miklus was just getting his junior season started after being out the previous year and he took a loss in the finals that opened up a lot of eyes. The three-time All-American came out on the short end against true freshman Jacob Warner. He ultimately bounced back to finish on the podium but it wasn’t the start he was looking for. Now he’s at Iowa State and making his return to the tournament. Warner isn’t scheduled to be there this year, but surely he’d like to impress upon the finish from last year.
