Just a few days after placing third at Super 32, Sonny Santiago announced his verbal commitment to Arizona State.

A junior at St. John Bosco in California, Santiago may wind up as the heir apparent to Zahid Valencia at 174. Right now, we have him as the #17 prospect at that weight (which has not been updated yet post-Super 32), but he could of course also wind up at 157 or 165.

Santiago ascended to being fifth overall at 152 after beating #6 Brevin Balmeceda, #8 Thayne Lawrence, and #16 Aaron Gandara in Greensboro. The Lawrence win avenged a 5-1 loss earlier in the month at the Journeymen Fall Classic.

Part of why Brady is low right now in the prospect rankings is that he did not place in Fargo, however, he did finish fifth in Akron at 71kg. That placement helped him get to #35 on the Class of 2020 Big Board.

Once he gets to Tempe, the coaching staff will fit Santiago in a middleweight lineup that will feature Jacori Teemer, Trey Munoz, and Zane Coleman.
