October 2018 Will Be An Outstanding Month For High School Wrestling

A primer for all six high school events that will be streamed live on FloWrestling this October.

Once fall hits, you know it’s time for high school wrestling once again. October marks the beginning of the folkstyle calendar for all the hardworking teenagers ready to show off their summer gains.

For those of you itching for the college season to start, it's a great time to familiarize yourself with upcoming prospects, as well as recruits who have already committed to your school.

Let’s take a look at the slate of the events live on Flo in October:

  • Journeymen Fall Classic

  • Agony in Ames
  • Fall Brawl
  • Dark Knight Savage Nationals
  • Super 32

Talk about a month jam-packed with action. Below we'll get into each event a little more, and make sure you know where and when to watch; all times listed are eastern. Along with that will be a link to the event hub, so you can see where you'll find all the written content for each, as well as video archives after these competitions are over.

Journeymen Fall Classic

For the eighth straight year, Flo will stream the slew of high school studs making their way to Schenectady, NY, looking for some tough competition and the Hammer award. A brand new inductee into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Frank Popolizio has put together another excellent bunch of matches and tough weight classes. It will be once again be in round robin/pool format, and the current entries can be found HERE.

Who’s #1

Now in its sixth year, competing at WNO is a goal of every high schooler. It has become the premier event on the high school calendar, earned by strong performances at the likes of Akron, Fargo, Ironman, and Super 32. This year's card will feature 11 men's matches and, for the second straight year, one women's match.

Agony in Ames

An excellent high school card will be featured on Iowa State’s campus. In just two years of existence, it has some impressive alumni: Austin Gomez, AJ Ferrari, Austin O'Connor, Julian Ramirez, Will Lewan, Cullan Schriever, Real Woods, Jakason Burks, and Kordell Norfleet, among many others.

Fall Brawl

A single-day tournament, the Fall Brawl is held every year in Kansas City and attracts some of the best names from Missouri and the Midwest as a whole. Along with the usual middle and high school divisions, for the the first time this year they will be adding a girls tournament. You can register HERE and brackets will be on FloArena.

9:00 am, Oct. 20th - All three tournaments


Dark Knight Savage Nationals

The Lehigh Valley is one of the nation's toughest areas for wrestling, and Dark Knights are the top club in District XI. This tournament is the week before Super 32 and is being billed as a great way to get matches to warm up for the mega-event down in Greensboro a week later.

Super 32

It all crescendos with the toughest high school tournament in the country. Over 100 ranked wrestlers are registered as they all battle for the coveted belt in the toughest folkstyle in the country. Registration has closed and brackets will once again be on FloArena.
