Find a bucolic setting in Michigan and name it Amine Arbor.

Cam Amine will be a Wolverine.

From national powerhouse Detroit Catholic Central, Amine continues his family's legacy as his father, brother, uncle, and two cousins all donned Maize and Blue on the mat.

But for 1st year Head Coach Sean Bormet, it wasn't easy to reel Amine in.

Ranked 4th at 152 and #19 in his Senior Class, Cam attracted recruiting attention from almost all the nation's power programs. He narrowed his list earlier this summer to Purdue, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma State along with Michigan. And he insisted his decision would be based upon the best fit for him and not family history.

Ultimately it came down to Oklahoma State, where he visited last week, and Michigan.

While Cam wants to excel in college, he says he most enjoys freestyle and has world-level aspirations that attracted him to John Smith and his technique and international coaching abilities.

In the end though, and with Sergei Belaglozov recently named Head Coach of Cliff Keen WC, Amine felt both comfortable and confident in Michigan. He says he connected well with Belaglozov and two blue chip Wolverine freshmen Mason Parris and Joey Silva.

A two-time state champ and a medal winner at all the majors - Fargo, Super 32, FloNationals, etc., Amine projects as a 157/165, an area of need for a loaded Wolverine team expected to contend for many podium finishes going forward.

Michigan is coming off a 4th place finish a year ago and return 51 of those points. Their last two recruiting classes were ranked 4th and 9th, respectively. Amine is their second Top 20 Senior commitment in this class, joining #3-Kurt McHenry (125/MD).

Amine's next competition will be in Greensboro, NC, at Super 32 October 27th.
