Entering his fourth season at the reigns for the Tar heels, Coleman Scott is at a point where he's now beginning to cook with his own groceries.

Gone are most of the wrestlers he's inherited and in their stead are his own recruits. Included in that are his #13 Class of 2018 and the #10 recruiting haul of 2017

Between himself and Assistants Tony Ramos and Bryce Hasseman, their recruiting pull reaches several key geographic locations.

A four-time All American, NCAA Champion, and Olympic Bronze medalist, Coleman has national appeal to go along with footing in Oklahoma (where he wrestled for the Cowboys) and PA (where he's a high school legend).

Ramos helps in the Midwest, especially in the talent-rich area of Chicago where UNC has pulled their best recruit to date in Austin O'Connor to go with Joey Melendez and Jamie Hernandez.

Nomad broke down the current Tar Heel roster and here I'll take a look at weights of need and potential targets.

Lightweights

On the Roster:

UNC is in good shape down low with Top 5 Joey Melendez or talented though less-heralded Joey Heilman leading off in the future. Zach Sherman was ranked in the Top 10 coming out of Blair Academy and had an up-and-down FR campaign. He qualified for NCAA's (where he went 1-2) but finished under .500 on the season. However, he was a TRUE freshman and should make for a very solid starter going forward.

At 141, the Tar Heels have 'good' problems. AC Headlee and Jaime Hernandez were both high-profile recruits coming out of high school, but neither have gotten off to a hot start. Headlee qualified for NCAA's last year (0-2) but in his two starting seasons is 25-26. Wrestling a limited schedule last year, Hernandez went 7-5 as a redshirt FR.

So while there's clearly solid service coming from their 141's, Scott & Co. would probably like to see improved production. Should that not come to fruition from Headlee/Hernandez, UNC got a big boost when Gabe Tagg, a commitment for 2019, upped his status. Projected at 141 as well, Tagg recently went from #66 to #22 among the Top 100 Seniors

Targets:

The 'floor' has been raised for UNC lightweights. They will undoubtedly be solid. Melendez and Gabe Tagg should be long-term solutions at 125 and 141, respectively. The most obvious target down low would be Gabe's brother Julian, a Top 15 overall recruit in the Class of 2020. Julian could go 125 or 133 and make for a dynamite leadoff lineup of Tagg-Melendez-Tagg or Melendez-Tagg-Tagg under the tutelage of two lightweight World Teamers.

Other lightweight targets include Illinois product Travis Ford-Melton, and 2020's Robbie Howard or Anthony Clark.

Middleweights

On the Roster:

I love the middle of the Tar Heels future line-up, and it's easy to see why. A blue chip recruit, Austin O'Connor steps in at 149 this year after a 20-3 redshirt campaign. He also beat All American and ACC Champ Troy Heilmann in wrestle offs a year ago to go along with wins over Solomon Chishko and Steve Bleise.

Kennedy Monday will likely man 157 after making strides last year and going 3-2 at NCAA's.

I see the long term line-up here featuring Monday to 165. After a redshirt, last year's Super 32 Champ Mason Phillips will enter the fold. That could be at 149 or 157, depending on if O'Connor stays put or moves up.

So the only question mark in the middle comes at 174 where there are three candidates: Sophomore Devin Kane or true freshmen Ryan Karoly and Joey Mazzara. I think one develops into a solid starter; Kane was 24-10 last year with a NCO title. However, look for 174 to be UNC's focus in recruiting this year.

Targets:

Jace Luchau has a visit to Chapel Hill. He could be of value to several weights though I don't see him as a future 174. Two high-profile in the 174 that are still available in the Class of 2019 are Carter Starocci and Chris Foca, though there have been no known link to UNC for them. I think Dan Mancini (PA) might be a solid option for them too.

Ultimately though, I think UNC takes a look at how their young guys do this year and then looks to 2020 prospects for 174. Among the elite recruits, I think Blair's Dom Mata would be a great fit. And there are several guys I like for UNC that reach back to Scott's OK footprint. Could they get in the Plott sweepstakes? If not, how his teammate Luke Surber? I'm also high on Kansas product Dwayne Villalpando.

Upperweights

On the Roster:

184 is in good hands. Chip Ness AA'd last year a enters his final season. Youngsters Chasen Blair and Nick Mosco wait in the wings, but the big one is The Heels' commit from the #2 ranked 182lber in the country in Missouri's Devin Winston.

At 197, the future is tied to incoming Freshman Brandon Whitman who spent nearly his entire career ranked in the Top 5.

The big question up top comes at HWT, which, along with 174 are likely UNC's biggest concern of the next recruiting classes. Incumbent starter Corey Daniels enters his final season. That will leave RSo. Andrew Gunning and true freshman Keaton Kleuver as candidates to start. While both have shown promise, they are still unknowns at the D1 level.

Targets:

Like most weights, the pickin's for available 285's in the 2019 class are slim. They could look at PA's Michael Wolfgram who has been shooting up the Big Board, or perhaps IL's Aydin Guttridge who came out of nowhere at Fargo.

More likely, the Heels are looking at 2020 recruits. Expect them to be in on Ferrari with the potential to build him to 285. Nash Hutmacher could also be an option. And if I were the staff I'd look hard at PA's Hunter Catka.
