Carson Kharchla was on a seek-and-destroy mission once he stepped into the Fargodome last weekend and everything in his path had no chance.

The Ohio native came in ranked third in the country and took out the top competitors to claim the title. On his hit list from the weekend were current #1 Dustin Plott of Oklahoma; #7 Parker Keckeisen; and post-grads Ben Sarasin, who was ranked #15 last year; and Travis Wittlake, the multiple-time Fargo champ who was #1 in 2017.

Kharchla's semifinal against Wittlake was the only match that went the distance. He went up 7-0 in the first period before the Oklahoma State commit mounted a short-lived comeback, resulting in a 7-4 win for Kharchla. That would prove to be his biggest test as he got back to his golden game plan of gut wrenches in the finals to claim his fifth tech-fall of the tournament. Outside of his semifinal regular decision, he had two matches that went past the one-minute mark.

In just the matter of a few days, Kharchla became one of the hottest unsigned recruits in the country and earned an invite to Who’s #1 for a chance to take the top spot in the country.

Relive the impressive title run of Carson Kharchla.

Round 3: 10-0 tf. Parker Keckeisen (WI), 1:18.
