America's Proudest Moments: Gable Dominates The World
Happy Fourth of July! Let's celebrate America's birthday with some of our favorite moments in USA wrestling history!

Joe Kania remembers one of the most legendary performances in world wrestling history:
We all know that Dan Gable only wrestled in two world championships, winning titles in 1971 and 1972. But his gold in the 1972 Munich Olympics was significant in American history and one of my personal favorite moments. In six matches, he picked up three pins. Guy didn’t give up a single point during the whole tournament. And this was during a stretch in which the Russians won 15 straight world championships, taking every title from 1969 through 1983. Then Gable hung up his shoes for good to groom the next generation. Close matches are fun, but I do not devalue this just because of the beating Gable graced the world with.
