Provisor Double Dips, Wins PanAm Medals In Freestyle & Greco
Ben Provisor won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman and gold in freestyle at the PanAm championships.

U.S. Open 87kg Greco-Roman champion Ben Provisor came through with flying colors as he pulled double duty at the 2018 Pan-Am Championships in Lima, Peru, winning bronze in Greco-Roman at 87kg on Friday and a gold in freestyle at 92kg a day later.
J'den Cox, the 92kg U.S. Open champ, was slated to wrestle in the Pan-Am freestyle tournament but had to recuse himself due to illness. Luckily for Team USA, Provisor was ready, willing, and able to man the position for the American freestylers.
Provisor acquitted himself expertly in the freestyle bracket, beating Dalton Webb of Canada 11-0, Fabio Conceicao of Brazil 11-0, and Esdras Lopez of Mexico 10-0 in a frenzy of tech falls. Provisor also picked up an injury default against Peru to make it a clean sweep and earn gold in the round-robin event.
In the Greco-Roman bracket held earlier in the week, Provisor went 3-1 overall and beat Alfonso Leyva of Mexico to earn a second shiny medal necklace of the bronze colored variety.
Provisor, who trains at the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, will be scaling back to Greco-Roman duty only for the 2018 World Championships. Should he win the Greco-Roman World Team Trials, in which he will be the favorite, Provisor will represent the red, white, and blue in Budapest, Hungary, in October at the UWW World Championships.
