Austin DeSanto has announced he is transferring to the University of Iowa. A 2018 NCAA qualifier at 133lb, DeSanto will have three years of eligibility remaining after receiving a release from Drexel earlier this offseason.

The true freshman sensation made waves immediately after stepping foot on Drexel's campus this past season for his unbelievable pace and first-period tech falls. His 28-7 record included wins over All-Americans Stevan Micic, Jack Mueller, and Montorie Bridges.

However, DeSanto fell out of favor with fans after intentionally trying to injure 133-pound national runner-up Stevan Micic in their NCAA quarterfinal match in March. DeSanto would go on to lose to Scott Delvecchio in the blood round.

DeSanto fills a crucial need for the Hawkeyes, as 133 was the only weight Iowa did not have a wrestler qualify for the 2018 NCAA tournament.
