Final X Qualification Process: Explained
Everything you need to know about the Final X qualification process.
Final X is the new series that will determine the starting senior world teams for USA Wrestling in 2018.
The top two contenders in men's and women's freestyle will face off in a best-of-three series to determine the starting team. Those best-of-three series will all take place on the same day, with the 20 total weight class series being spread out over three weekends in three different locations: June 9 in Lincoln, NE; June 16 in State College, PA; and June 23 in Bethlehem, PA.

How the Final X matchups are determined for men's freestyle is explained in the diagram below.
The U.S. Open will be the key to determining the world team. Placers at the Open will constitute the majority of the field at the World Team Trials, and the winners of the Open will get a bye to Final X in weights that don't have a returning world medalist.
