It's one of the biggest folkstyle tournaments of the year. The 2018 NHSCA High School Nationals has drawn top talent from across the country for this weekend's tournament in Virginia Beach, VA, with separate divisions for high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Now that the brackets are up—which you can check out on FloArena, naturally—we can break things down by entries.

Juniors are the most numerous entrants, as the best wrestlers in nation fight for the attention of the many college coaches who are scouting for future scholarship recipients here in Virginia Beach.

Below is a table of this year's total entries by grade, followed by a graph of the same.

Despite having only the third and fifth most entries respectively, Pennsylvania and New Jersey came to Virginia Beach to compete. Pennsylvania flexed in the freshman and sophomore divisions, winning both tournaments by comfortable margins. New Jersey had the highest totals in the junior division while finishing as runners up in the freshman and sophomore grades. New York claimed the team title for the seniors.

Those who would like to see that breakdown in the form of a heat map are obliged in the graphic below.

When it came to total champs, Pennsylvania was also tops, mostly due to a dominating sophomore tournament with seven champs. The breakdown of weight class winners by grade is below.

The raw data for that chart is also below.

It's always nice to see a state like California represented on the east coast, and California definitely came to VA Beach to win. And no one logged more miles on his way to a title than Kysen Terukina, who came all the way from Haiwaii to win the sophomore 120 pound title.
