We'll keep you covered with live updates of the live match updates on this first Saturday of the holiday season! We're scheduled to get things started at 6:00PM ET/5:00PM ET

We thank you all for being here tonight, especially with so many insanely good college football games occurring simultaneously. But that's what the "two-screen experience" is all about. So warm up yet another plate of leftover turkey and dig in for an excellent dual meet.

It's a classy affair tonight, as Virginia Tech is making use of their Moss Preforming Arts Center. The mat is on stage and the fans are all watching from the theater seats. Should be a pretty chill atmosphere as long as nobody falls into the orchestral pit.

Here's a view from a lucky fan in attendance.

National anthem was beautifully performed by a young man on his violin. See I told you it was going to be classy.

Going through the the introductions now. Couple of line up changes. I'll try to update the matchups above. Notably no Jaydin Eierman for Missouri at 141.

125: No. 17 Barlow McGhee, Missouri vs Kyle Norstrem, Virginia Tech

1st period: McGhee trying to get back on track here in his senior season. He was R12 as a sophomore but struggled last year. Norstrem is a talented redshirt freshman looking to make some noise in his first varsity campaign. Norstrem in on a shot but it's stopped and stalemated. Both guys just feeling each other out in the first. McGhee gets poked in the eye and we have a quick stoppage but no injury time. Another shot from Norstrem gets stuffed. McGhee counters with a big double and picks up the takedown. A nice mat return for McGhee and he'll ride out the period. 2-0 McGhee.

2nd period: Riding time needs fixing. Once that's taken care of we'll start the 2nd. We're all set and McGhee starts on bottom. He's a little too eager and picks up 2 cautions. Third time is the charm. McGhee stands and is up and out. Norstrem with another nice shot but McGhee's sprawl is too heavy and he fights out of a single leg. Another shot from Norstrem gets a stall called on McGhee. Looked warranted from here. Time runs out on the second still in neutral. McGhee leads 3-0.

3rd period: Norstrem starts on bottom but stands and escapes quickly. He's a takedown away from tying the score. Norstrem really turning up the offense as he knows he's running out of time. But McGhee parries each attempt and counters for two to ice it.

McGhee wins 5-1

Team Score: 3-0 Mizzou

133: No. 9 John Erneste, Missouri vs No. 13 Dennis Gustafson, Virginia Tech

1st period: One of our featured bouts, two top 20 guys go out there now. Both guys trading half shots but nothing yet. Now Erneste gets an opening and almost a cradle. Or maybe there was a cradle I'm not sure but it's two and two and Erneste has Gustafson flat. Gustafson got to his feet but Erneste sucks him back in. The period ends with a 4-0 lead for Erneste.

2nd period: Erneste starts on bottom. Erneste with a big granby and comes up with a leg. He trips to complete the reversal. Then spladles (or half spladles?) Gustafson for 2 more. But he's too loose and Gustafson gets a reversal of his own. It's 8-2. Makes that 9-2 as Erneste escapes quickly. And that's how the period ends.

3rd period: They'll start the 3rd in neutral. Gustafson with a lot of ground to make up. Erneste with a slick slide by but all he gets is a leg and a scramble. They continue to scramble around and chew up clock but it ends in a stalemate. Then Erneste counters for 2 to ice it with 10 seconds left.

Erneste wins 11-2.

Team score: 7-0 Mizzou

141: Nick Nasenbeny, Missouri vs Brent Moore, Virginia Tech

1st period: Both wrestlers run out to the mat as Mortal Kombat blasts on the PA and they're both ready to 'test their might'. It's Nasenbeny, not Eierman, just in case anyone was wondering (or listening to the announcers on the live stream). A lot of handfighting, now Moore pounces and almost has the two. A big granby and they're in a standing position with Moore behind Nasenbeny. Moore bring him down for a very important two. He struggles to hold Nasenbeny down but succeeds. Moore rides out the period and gives the crowd something to cheer for.

2nd period: Nasenbeny is on top. Puts a leg in and starts cranking an armbar. Leg slips out but Nasenbeny still has the arm. He comes out to the side and gets potentially dangerous called. They restart, same position. Moore finally escapes to make it 3-0. RT at 33 ticks for Nasenbeny. That's how the period ends.

3rd period: Nasenbeny's turn on bottom.  Nasenbeny gets to his feet multiple times but Moore is tenacious on top and chews up over 30 seconds and all the RT with mat returns. Still 3-0. Now Moore breaks Nasenbeny down flat and has a cross body ride with a leg in. He's close to putting this one away. He does, and the crowd is pumped!

Moore wins 4-0.

Team score: 7-3 Mizzou

149: No. 19 Grant Leeth, Missouri vs No. 5 Solomon Chishko, Virginia Tech

1st period: Leeth is out here with the neck brace, while Chishko, the two time AA, comes into the this match after a red hot start. VT head coach Tony Robie wants to make sure that neck brace is kosher and Mizzou HC Brain Smith says it definitely is. The ref agrees so they begin. Leeth in on a single and he converts. Chishko escapes soon after and it's 2-1.

Here's a shot of Leeth in his neck brace.

Still in the first. 2-1 Leeth. End of the first and no change in score.

2nd period: Chishko starts on bottom. A couple false starts and now Chishko is out, knotting the score at 2-2. Chishko in on a shot but Leeth breaks the grip and powers ahead with a counter for two of his own. It's 4-2 Leeth. Leeth slips in a boot and rides tough. He's got over a minute of RT and the period ends, score still 4-2.

3rd period: Leeth starts on bottom and is up and out quickly. RT at 0:58 though. Score is 5-2 Leeth. And I just lost about a paragraph of updates to the internet gremlins but Leeth holds on to win 8-2 in dominant fashion.

Leeth wins 8-2

Team score: 10-3 Mizzou

157: No. 2 Joey Lavallee, Missouri vs BC LaPrade, Virginia Tech

1st period: Lavallee is an NCAA finalist and a big favorite here. He gets a quick TD and is riding tough. LaPrade beat out teammate Ryan Blees for the opportunity to take on the senior from Mizzou. For that he gets ridden out for 2 and a half minutes in the first period.

2nd period: LaPrade takes down to start the 2nd and may be regretting it already. A minute in and he's been on his belly the whole time. He gets stalling called on him to boot. Lavallee ridding so tough, but as soon as I type that LaPrade stands and gets out, much to the relief of the Hokie fans in attendance. LaPrade with a little "extracurricular" shove at the end of the second as he's been frustrated on bottom and on his feet so far.

3rd period: Lavallee is on bottom and escapes in time to maintain over 3 minutes of RT. LaPrade then gets dinged for unnecessary roughness and the score is 5-1. The call looked justified but coach Robie wants to talk to the ref anyway (it is expected of him after all). Robie gets a warning and we restart with a minute to go in the match. LaPrade in on a shot, crowd egging him on, but Lavallee too strong and too experienced. He counters after a scramble and ices it with a TD. LaPrade escapes and it's 8-3. LaPrade then gets dinged for stalling to give up a point. The match ends and Lavallee has more than enough RT.

Lavallee wins 10-3

Team score: 13-3 Mizzou

No intermission, no rest for the weary. We soldier on!

165: Connor Flynn, Missouri vs No. 4 David McFadden, Virginia Tech

1st period: All-American David McFadden is the favorite but Flynn could make things interesting. McFadden is in on a single and converts for an early lead. Flynn escapes in 12 seconds and they lock up in collar ties. The finish the period on their feet with no other changes on the scoreboard.

2nd period: McFadden starts on bottom. Flynn needs out of bounds to keep McFadden from escaping two times in a row and gets hit for stalling on the second time. No change of position but on the next restart McFadden gets up and out. Now. its 4-1 for the Hokie. New Jersey's own David McFadden gets in on a shot but Flynn manages to pass a leg. The ref makes a danger call but no takedown nor nearfall are awarded. It's still 4-1.

3rd period: Flynn is on bottom here. He hits a standing switch for a reversal and McFadden goes right into a granby to escape. It's 5-3 in favor of McFadden. The match slows down in the final minute. A couple shots from Flynn but he comes up empty. McFadden holds on.

McFadden wins 5-3

Team score: 13-6

174: No. 6 Daniel Lewis, Missouri vs Hunter Bolen, Virginia Tech

1st period: Lewis is the favorite, but Bolen is from nearby Christiansburg, VA, nestled in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and just walked out to banjo music, so he may be inspired to pull off the upset. A slow and deliberate first period. No big shots until the final 10 seconds when Lewis gets in deep but runs out of time. 0-0.

2nd period: They're back on their feet, for a hopefully more eventful 2 minutes. A shot from Bolen is countered by Lewis, who scores the first TD of the match. He racks up a minute of riding time and had a cradle locked up but can't turn. Period ends 2-0 for Lewis.

3rd period: Lewis starts on bottom. Bolen gets the riding time to under 30 seconds and is still riding on top. At some point he's going to need to turn or cut him. Now Bolen cuts with a minute to go, down 3-0. Bolen can't get anything going, except a few scrambles, and Lewis gets the W.

Lewis wins 3-0

Team score: 16-6 Mizzou

184: Canten Marriot, Missouri vs No. 6 Zack Zavatsky, Virginia Tech

1st period: The Hokies are going to need big points from the big guns, and Zavatsky answers the call with a TD in the first 10 seconds. Marriott escapes but ZZTop is right back in on a shot. He converts after a scramble and it's 4-1 with over a minute left in the 1st. Zavatsky can't hold Marriot down in short time and it's 4-2 at the end of the 1st.

2nd period: Zavatsky starts on bottom, escapes with minimal effort and is right in on another shot. He converts and it's 7-2. Although Marriott gets out to make its 7-3. Now Zavatsky is clearly thinking bonus as he goes catch and release. It's 9-4, but time runs out before Zavatsky can't get another TD.

3rd period: Marriott begins the final stanza on bottom and ZZ cuts him. A fantastic ankle pick by Zavatsky gets him 2 more. RT now locked up. Zavatsky needs a TD and ride out to get the major. A stall from Marriott helps. But Zavatsky stumbles and gives up a go behind. It's 12-8. Big swing for team points! ZZ wins but fails to get bonus points.

Zavatsky wins: 13-8

Team score: 16-9 Mizzou

197: No. 3 Willie Miklus, Missouri vs No. 2 Jared Haught, Virginia Tech

1st period: It's the MAIN EVENT. TWO VS THREE. Parkersburg, West Virginia's own Jared Haught has two All-American honors, but so does Altoona, Iowa's Willie Miklus. Miklus recently suffered an eye-opening loss to true frosh Jacob Warner of Iowa at the Lindenwood Open and will try to get back on track in Blacksburg. Tech needs the team points so Haught has to be thinking bonus, despite Miklus' high ranking.

2nd period: Folks, I'll be honest, technical difficulties caused me to miss the last couple minutes But the score is 3-1 in the second and they're on their feet. Haught gets another takedown and Miklus is hurt. Could be a knee but also Miklus appears to have a cut on his forehead. Now they're back and Haught elects to start on bottom. It's 5-1. Miklus almost gets a tilt but Haught shakes him loose and gets a reversal. It's 7-1 now. Haught has, perhaps, the widest eyes of any wrestler in the NCAA. He looks like he's on a mission.

Here's what the most important match of the dual meet looks like at the end of the second period.

3rd period: Miklus starts on bottom. He's up and out in a hurry. It's 7-2. It's getting a bit chippy as Haught pummels Miklus out of bounds and Miklus gets hit for stalling. The crowd agrees and the shall chants start coming. Haught in on a single. Miklus goes gator bacon. AND HAUGHT'S ON HIS BACK. MIKLUS SILENCES THE MOSS ARTS CENTER WITH A PIN!!!! OH MY GOODNESS. Miklus was staring at a major decision defeat and pulls off the upset in the most dramatic of manners.

You guys, that was nuts.

Miklus wins BY FALL

Team score: 22-9 Mizzou

285: Austin Myers, Missouri vs Andrew Dunn, Virginia Tech

1st period: Wow, still catching my breath from the ending to the last match. Neither wrestler is ranked and the match is out of reach for the hometown Hokies.  Luckily not much has happened in the 1st two minutes of the heavyweight match and I have an opportunity to compose myself. 0-0 at the end of the first.

2nd period: Dunn is in the down position. He escapes in 6 seconds. Uneventful minute and 54 seconds and it's still 1-0 at the end of the second.

3rd period: Not to be "out done" (apologies but that was definitely intended) Myers escapes in 3 seconds. They're back on their feet and riding timing is for sure not a factor. Dunn goes from front headlock to snatch single. Myers tries a chest lock but ends up giving up two (and picking up a stall warning). That's how it ends, 3-1.

Dunn wins 3-1

Final team score: 22-12 Mizzou

Man of the match has to be Willie Miklus. He rebounds from his loss to Warner with a theater deafening pinfall of the No. 2 197 pounder in the country Jared Haught.

We're thrilled you were all here to catch the live updates -- or that you're here later on to read the match notes. Apologies for the typos. That was a fun one. Enjoy the rest of your weekend wrestling fans!
