Cohlton Schultz Wins Cadet Greco World Title
Cohlton Schultz becomes the first American to win a Cadet Greco world title since Joshua Etu in 1997.

Cohlton Schultz is now a world champion. The Colorado native is no longer just a household name in American wrestling after winning the 100kg gold medal at the the Cadet World Championships in Athens, Greece, on Tuesday.
Schultz became the first American to win a Cadet world title in Greco-Roman since 1997, when Joshuta Etu won the 95kg crown. Schultz is also the first to win since the tournament was reinstated in 2011 and did so after also making this year's Junior world team.
Under the new two-day format being used in international wrestling, Schultz made the finals with two pins during Monday's morning session and then a tight 1-0 win in the semifinals over the Asian champ from Iran.
In Tuesday's finals, Schultz squared off with a familiar foe in Balint Vatzi of Hungary, this year's European champion. The two met in the finals of the Croatia Open in June, with Schultz taking a 3-0 decision.
This time around, Schultz used his experience overseas this spring and summer to hold center and a take a 1-0 lead on a passivity point heading into the break. Near the end of the third minute, he gave up a stepout to fall behind 1-1 on criteria. But the 2015 Pan Am champ dug deep and got a snapdown go-behind with under 15 seconds to go to seal the deal.
Schultz's win puts the USA into the top 10 in the team scoring with two Americans still alive in the repechage on Wednesday.
