Bryan Medlin To Become Illinois Regional Training Center Head Coach
Bryan Medlin named Illinois Regional Training Center head coach.

Washington Community High School (Illinois) head coach Bryan Medlin has resigned from his post and will become the head coach of the Illinois Regional Training Center.
Medlin has been the head coach at Washington High School since 2007 where he lead the Panthers to seven regional titles and two class 2A dual state championships. Prior to Medlin taking over the Washington wrestling program the Panthers had never won a regional title.
"I am taking the position with the University of Illinois," Medlin wrote in a text message according to the Journal Star. "I am taking it with clear eyes and a clear conscience because I know there is one more new beginning in me. I am confident because you have made me strong enough to take this on, courageous enough to step out of my comfort zone, and fulfilled enough to start over if this fails."
Not only has Medlin had success coaching folkstyle, but he also has been a crucial part of Team Illinois' Freestyle and Greco dominance at Cadet & Junior Duals and of course at Fargo. Last week Team Illinois swept the team title in both styles at both the Cadet and Junior levels inside the Fargo Dome.
"This is not the first college position that I have been offered but it is the first one that I have considered for any amount of time," Medlin continued in his statement. "I never felt the desire to consider any other job because for the past 25 years it has been such a blessing to be a part of such a life enriching program as the Washington Wrestling Family."
Illinois has been in the spotlight since the end of the season since it was announced that associate head coach Mark Perry was returning to Iowa to run the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Soon after the Fighting Illini hired former Illinois standout Mike Poeta to fill his position. Medlin bings a wealth of Freestyle and Greco knowledge along with strong ties to the Illinois wrestling community to Champaign.
