Mark Perry Considering Move Back To Iowa
Multiple sources have confirmed that Mark Perry and Iowa are strongly considering a move that would bring the former Hawkeye back to Iowa City in some coaching capacity. Whether the position will be at the University of Iowa, with the Hawkeye Wrestling Club or a combination of the two is still unclear at this point.
Perry was a two-time NCAA champ and four-time All American for Iowa. He has spent the past six years as the assistant coach at Illinois, and also helped run the Illinois RTC while he was there. Perry has been instrumental in the career of Isaiah Martinez, who has referred to Mark as a "brother" to the two-time NCAA Champion from California.
Iowa recently received a million dollar donation while the Hawkeye WC had raised over $100,000 since the end of the college wrestling season. It is unclear where that money will be going, but it could be used to cover Perry's salary. According to the Daily Illini, Perry is making $97,157. It would stand to reason that Iowa's offer would need to be in that range, if not higher, to get Perry from Champaign to Iowa City.
