Jose Rodriguez Transferring Out Of Ohio State

Tony Rotundo Jose Rodriguez

Jose Rodriguez will be leaving Ohio State and has been granted a release. It is not known at this time where he will be transferring.

Rodriguez went 16-12 this year for the Buckeyes, qualifying for the NCAA tournament after a seventh place finish at the Big Ten championships. He made the finals of Cliff Keen Las Vegas back in December, and lost controversially to two-time All American Joey Dance.

The two-time Ohio state champ will have three years of eligibility remaining, but only if he transfers to a school outside of the Big Ten. Rodriguez was ranked the #58 recruit from the class of 2015.

This of course opens up the question of if Nathan Tomasello will be dropping back down to 125 pounds; NaTo was the 125lb champ in 2015. If not, their incoming recruits at that weight are Brakan Mead and Jaimen Hood. Tomasello dropping could cause a chain reaction putting Luke Pletcher at 133 and Ke-Shawn Hayes at 141. Hayes missed the majority of this year with an injury.
