Fredy Stroker Transfers To Cornell University

Josh Conklin Fredy Stroker

In January, Fredy Stroker decided he needed a change and left Minnesota. The former Fargo champion didn't have the success he and many others expected after his excellent high school career. The redshirt freshman was just 7-9 through one semester as the Gophers' 149-pounder.

Looking for a new home where he could change weight classes, Stroker has decided his next stop will be in Ithaca, New York, at Cornell University. Cornell has a definite need for Stroker's services next year at 157 pounds, so the lineup fit is outstanding for both parties.

Stroker's leg attacks and scrambling ability will only be enhanced under the tutelage of Big Red head coach Rob Koll and assistants Damion Hahn, Donnie Vinson, and Mike Grey.

Stroker notified FloWrestling of his decision this afternoon. "I felt like I really fit in with the coaches and guys on the team," Stroker said. "I believe that I will I be able to reach my athletic goals but also excel academically and socially."

Stroker will be a sophomore next year with three years of eligibility remaining starting next fall.
