Just two days after Iran announced that it would be banning the United States wrestling team from participating in the 2017 World Cup in Kermanshah, Iran, on February 16-17, Iran has announced that it has reversed that decision.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted the following late Saturday night.
Following the court ruling suspending #MuslimBan & the requests from Iranian Wrestling Federation & FILA, US Wrestlers' visa will be granted— Javad Zarif (@JZarif) February 5, 2017
The reversal in decision is due to a federal judge in Seattle who blocked a portion of President Donald Trump's executive order that banned visas for seven Muslim-majority countries, including Iran. When the executive order was first signed, Iran vowed to take "proportionate legal action" and "reciprocal measures."
