Kyle Snyder And Alli Ragan Lead Team USA's Seven Athletes To Yarygin

Prepared To Fight: The Yarygin (Trailer)
Live On Flo This Week: 1/26 Clovis vs. Buchanan | 1/27 Lock Haven at Edinboro | 1/27-28 NCWA National Duals | 1/28 Bishop McCort vs. Wyoming Seminary

Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder will be back on the freestyle mats this weekend in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. He is leading a team of just three U.S. men's freestyle athletes to compete in the Ivan Yarygin Memorial Grand Prix. On the women's side, world silver medalist Alli Ragan headlines a group of four U.S. athletes competing in the bracket this year.

None of the three men's freestylers will compete on the first day of the tournament. Yarygin will be Ragan's first time on the mat since her strong run to a silver medal at last month's non-Olympic weight world championships. Senior nationals champion Victoria Anthony will be wrestling in Russia for the first time since the 2013 University Games, while Olympic Trials champ Tamrya Mensah is making her Russian debut this Friday.

Competing on day two are past NCAA champions Nick Gwiazdowski and Cody Brewer. Gwiazdowski was last seen getting the match-clinching takedown to seal Titan Mercury's title at the World Freestyle Clubs Cup. Brewer has not competed since the Bill Farrell in November. Sarah Hildebrandt, this year's world team member at 55kg, is a veteran on the international scene and will join Brewer and Gwiazdowski on Saturday.

Cody Brewer's epic Farrell quarterfinal with Nahshon Garrett:

Snyder is looking for his first Yarygin title after that infamous loss to Anzor Boltukaev in last year's semifinals. Unfortunately for wrestling fans, no part of Russia's three-headed dragon of Abdusalam Gadisov, Khadjimurt Gatsalov or Boltukaev will be in action.

Both U.S. teams will be accompanied by their respective head coaches in Bill Zadick and Terry Steiner. Other notable foreign entries include 2015 world champ Frank Chamizo of Italy and Rio silver medalist Rei Higuchi of Japan. We will release brackets as they come out publicly.
