The 54th Midlands Championships are going down tonight at 7PM CT. You can catch all the action live on the Big 10 Network.

Final Brackets:


125: Thomas Gilman, Iowa vs Tim Lambert, Nebraska
1st Period: Broadcast starts with Gilman up 6-2. So that's ideal.

2nd Period: Lambert chooses bottom and escapes. A single to Gilmans right leg and another finish. 8-3 lead with 1:10 to go in the 2nd. Escape for Gilman and he's on a single on the other leg now and they go out of bounds. Yet another single and a stall point makes it 9-4 Gilman. Another stalemate.

3rd Period: Gilman chooses down and escapes quickly. 10-4 Gilman. Riding time at 49 seconds. Go behind to the single and he climbs up the leg now back trips for the finish. Now it's 12-3 with riding time over a minute. 13-4 final with riding time.

133: Zane Richards, Illinois vs Eric Montoya, Nebraska
1st Period: Underway now. Familiar opponents here with Richards having the edge. Great inside reach single by Richards but Montoya sets him on his side and gets the stalemate. High crotch to a double for Richards for the 2. Immediate escape makes it 2-1 Richards.

2nd Period:
Montoya takes bottom and escapes. A few seconds later Richards back in on the same high crotch and another finish makes it 4-2 Richards. Another escape and it's 4-3 Richards. Richards toward the edge now, but still in bounds. Montoya trying to make something happen but Richards is evading. Left side single by Montoya but he's stuffed underneath. Nearly works up but they go out of bounds.

3rd Period: Richards chooses bottom. Montoya gets a boot in and attacks the far ankle. Great ride getting put on and just 20 seconds left. OVERTIME!

SV1: Shot by Montoya and there's the finish! 6-4 in OT for Montoya!

141: Matt Kolodzik, Princeton vs Kevin Jack, NC State
1st Period: Attack by Kolodzik and Jack clears out and gets to a single of his own but can't finish on the edge. Another single by Jack can't finish. Now he shoots a double but can't get by Kolodizk's head/hands.

2nd Period:Kolodzik takes bottom. Jack has a tough ride going. Over 1 minute. Rideout for Jack.

3rd Period: Jack chooses bottom. Some boring top wrestling, but Kolodzik erases his RT, then Jack escapes for a 1-0 lead. Kolodzik in on a single leg but Jack kicks out. Another shot by Kolodzik and once again Jack escapes. Jack wins 1-0.

149: Brandon Sorensen, Iowa vs Justin Oliver, CMU
1st Period: Underway now, Hard hand fighting and a few single attempts by Sorensen. Scoreless after 1.

2nd Period: Oliver takes bottom and escapes. 1-0 as Sorensen takes a few more shots but can't score.

3rd Period: Sorensen escapes to tie it at 1. OT

SV1: Sorensen gets in deep and there's the finish for the 7-1 final. Classic near arm far leg.

157: Tyler Berger, Nebraska vs Michael Kemerer, Iowa
1st Period: Ok, fingers crossed for offense here. Kemerer immediately in on a high crotch and finishes. 2-0 already in the first 30 seconds. Escape for Berger and it's 2-1. 29 seconds of riding time for Kemerer. 1:50 to go. Low double by Berger and a quick finish makes it 3-2, now 3-3 after Kemerer escapes.

2nd Period: Berger takes bottom. Escape and he now leads 4-3. 39 seconds of riding time for Kemerer. Another shot by Berger, but Kemerer has a great sprawl. Stalemate. Shot by Berger and a re-attack attempt by Kemerer. Nothing doin. 30 to go. Low shot by Berger, but Kemerer dives over but Kemerer is able to hold him off.

3rd Period: Kemerer takes bottom and escapes. Berger had everything BUT the takedown and somehow Kemerer escapes and avoids the 2! Under review, this was close. No 2 the call. 55 to go. Insane flurry and Kemerer somehow gets 2! Again under review. That was unreal. Takedown removed and we're going to overtime!

SV1: Shot by Kemerer, high crotch to double all but finishes and there's another counter. Out of bounds. Kemerer takes another shot and nearly finishes but can't! Wowza. Tiebreakers!

TB1: Kemerer takes bottom and escapes. 5-4 lead. Shot by Berger but Kemerer gets to the far ankle and holds on for overtime.

TB2: Berger chooses bottom. He escapes and we're tied at 5.

SV2: Shot by Berger and he nearly finishes, but once again we've got a stalemate. Another shot, this time he collects both ankles and 2 is called, then waved off, now reviewed and the td is not given. Back to tiebreakers

TB1: Berger takes bottom. Kemerer drops down a few times and gets the ride out. He was warned for stalling, however.

TB2: Kemerer takes bottom, Berger lets him up. 6-5 Kemerer. Shot by Kemerer and we'res scrambling as time runs out. Kemerer wins!

165: Isaiah Martinez, Illinois vs Chad Walsh, Rider
1st Period: Takedown by IMAR in the first minute and it's 2-0 for the Champ. Escape comes for Walsh and it's now 2-1. Underhook left side for Martinez. Now he goes to a seatbelt. Slide by for Walsh and the near leg comes in in a merkel position and the 2 is given! 3-2 Walsh but now it's going to review. TD stands and Walsh now leads with 17 to go. 2 quick cautions on IMAR. Up to his feet but Walsh drops in on the leg as time runs out, but not before IMAR gets the escape. 3-3 after 1.

2nd Period: Walsh takes bottom and IMAR lets him up. IMAR gets back to his seatbelt but Walsh is able to clear out with a whizzer. Underhook to a takedown for IMAR and he now leads 5-4. 45 to go. Escape Walsh and it's 5-5. Back to the seatbelt for IMAR. No dice and it's 5-5.

3rd Period: IMAR goes under. Merkle for Walsh and IMAR nearly goes to his back, two separate one counts and IMAR cartwheels out. 6-5. Double for IMAR and now he leads 8-5. TD as time expires makes it a 10-6 final for IMAR.

174: Zahid Valencia, ASU vs Lelund Weatherspoon, Iowa State
1st Period:Takedown for Valencia off his signature sweep single. 2-0. Riding time at 55 and climbing now. NOw riding time at 1:40. Nowhere near a turn, but Weatherspoon can't come close to an escape. Period ends.

2nd Period: Weatherspoon defers and Valencia takes bottom and escapes. Shot By Zahid, same sweep and there's two more. 5-0 lead. Escape given. 5-1. Go behind for Valencia turns into a nearside cradle. Weatherspoon bails out and now it's 7-1.

3rd Period: A few more takedowns for Zahid and now it's 10-2. 11-2 final for Zahid. Kid just keeps winning.

184: TJ Dudley, Nebraska vs Jack Dechow, ODU
1st Period: Both trade attacks but no scores. Dechow warned for stalling. Stall point for Dudley, 1-0 after 1.

2nd Period: Dudley takes bottom and escapes and now leads 2-0. Another flurry and a counter td for Dudley makes it 4-0. Escape for Dechow and it's 4-1. Blood time for Dechow. Back it it with 20 to go. Attack by Dechow but a great job by Dudley defending as time runs out.

3rd Period: Dechow escapes and it's 4-2 Dudley. Single by Dudley but Dechow gets out of bounds. 30 to go. Great attack by Dechow but Dudley gets away and time runs out. Dudley wins 4-2.

197: Nathan Rotert, SDSU vs Aaron Studebaker, Nebraska
1st Period: Rotert in on a single, but Studebaker counters and it's stalemated. Shot by Studebaker and a quick finish makes it 2-0 with 52 to go. Rotert escapes.

2nd Period: Rotert takes down and Studebaker puts a tough ride on him. He rides out. 2-1 with 2:25 of RT for Studebaker

3rd Period: Studebaker escapes. 3-1 Studebaker now with lots of RT. Effectively 4-1 with RT locked now. 37 left. Studebaker wins 4-1.

285: Jordan Wood, Lehigh vs Tanner Hall, Arizona State
1st Period: 1 minute in, not a lot going on.

2nd Period: Escape for Wood after Hall rides for awhile. Over a minute of riding time. Period ends.

3rd Period: Quick escape for Hall and he has riding time at 1:12, so it's 1-1, but 2-1 with RT. TD for Hall makes it 3-1, 4-1 final for Hall.
