FloWrestler of the Week: Logan Stieber

Catalina Fragoso Logan Stieber

Ladies and gentlemen, we have another World Champion.

Logan Stieber put on the performance of a lifetime to win the 61kg World title. The multiple time NCAA Champion claimed the title with a no-quit attitude that propelled him to the finals after collecting last second takedowns in the quarter and semifinals to earn his shot at the title. Once he was in the finals he left no doubt that he was the best as he notched an 8-4 win over Beka Lomtadze of Georgia.

“It is just focus. I don’t really think. I am just out there trying to score. I have confidence in my sprint and my short time offense. I didn’t draw it up this way,” said Stieber in an article on themat.com.

Logan Stieber's World Championship results:
WIN Vasyl Shuptar (Ukraine), tech. fall 10-0
WIN Akhmed Chakaev (Russia), 13-11
WIN Behnam Ehsanpoor (Iran), 9-8
Gold-Medal Finals – WIN Beka Lomtadze (Georgia), 8-4

Watch Stieber claim World gold.
