Another rock-solid upper middleweight is off the board. Kaleb Romero has made his college decision, giving a verbal commitment to Ohio State on Wednesday.
A senior for Mechanicsburg, Romero is 28th on the senior big board and currently ranked fourth at 160 pounds. The three-time state champion said he was, "born a Buckeye," and that, "it was really important for my family and the people in my community to be able to watch me wrestle in college."

One of the best football players in Ohio, Romero said he chose wrestling, because he didn't quite have the frame or scholarship offers he wanted to continue his football career.

Romero chose Ohio State over North Carolina and Cornell, saying that he wanted to venture out to other schools, make some official visits and be sure it was the right school for him. He projects as a 165/174 for Ohio State and said that he'll likely start his career at 65 and grow into a 74 as he starts lifting and develops later in his career.

He is the first Top-100 big board recruit to verbal in the class of 2017 for OSU, but the Buckeyes will likely have a few more studs committing in the near future.

Romero shows off his skills from both neutral and top in the state quarterfinals.
