Last year IAwrestle introduced the Night of Conflict dual held inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena that featured 16 matches in which some of the best high school talent from the state of Iowa went toe-to-toe with some of the best from around the country. Earlier this week IAwrestle announced the first match-up of NOC2, and it will be an Iowa-Illinois border battle. Newly crowned #1 and former Hawkeye commit, Jason Renteria, will do battle with Iowa state champ Keaton Geerts. 

Renteria has been a mainstay in the rankings since his Freshman year, and after post Fargo weight changes, recently grabbed the top spot at 132. The OPRF stud is an Illinois state champ, and two-time Ironman runner-up. Renteria competed in the inaugural Night of Conflict a year ago where he knocked off Iowa recruit Jack Wagner, 7-5. 



His opponent is Iowa state champ Keaton Geerts. Despite not currently being ranked, Geerts has proven that he can beat just about anyone. At Cadet World Team Trials in Akron, Geerts knocked off #7 Joey Silva, #9 Alex Thomsen, and #15 Beau Bartlett on his way to a seventh place finish. At FloNationals, Geerts knocked off #12 Jet Taylor and KJ Fenstermacher on his way to a fifth place finish.

ABOUT NIGHT OF CONFLICT:
The IAwrestle Team is proud to announce that this October we will be hosting a premier wrestling event titled "The Night of Conflict 2", and will pit some of the best talent that the state of Iowa has to offer in a head-to-head battle for supremacy of each weight class. The event is scheduled for October 14, 2016 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and it will take place the day before the preseason tournament, the Conflict at Carver, whose proceeds directly benefit the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Following weigh ins for the Conflict at Carver, wrestlers who have registered for the tournament will receive automatic admission into the Night of Conflict, free of charge. Tickets for the Night of Conflict will also be available for purchase at the door.
