According to an article in the Idaho Statesman which included a statement from Boise State, Greg Randall has been let go as the wrestling coach at Boise State.
Randall has been manning the post for the Bronco's for the last 14 years and served as an assistant for 10 years prior. In that time Boise State produced a number of All-Americans, including a great team in 2011 which included Andrew Hochstrasser, Jason Chamberlain, Adam Hall and Kirk Smith. The Bronco's won 4 Pac 12 titles under Randall and had been a fixture of the top 20 at NCAA's. Since that time, however, the Bronco's have struggled to find that same success. They've sunk towards the bottom of the Pac 12 and have had fewer and fewer nationally relevant wrestlers.
This year Geo Martinez at 149 was the lone All-American for the Bronco's. Apart from Geo, prized recruits out West have not been choosing Boise State. Over time, the lack of strong recruiting classes and scant development left the Boise State administration little choice.
Former Oregon State All-American Taylor Meeks will be serving as the Boise State interim head coach while the university searches for Coach Randall's replacement.
