The NCAA Wrestling season effectively produces three critical parts: the regular season, the conference tournaments, and the national championships.

The regular season data, including wins and losses (and the winning percentage that those wins and losses happen against) are all tallied to produce a threshold of automatic allocations per weight, per conference. In other words, before the conference tournament, it's determined that The ACC will get X number of automatic qualifiers at 125lbs; that The PAC 12 will get X number of qualifiers at 174.

I'm not going to geek out on what all goes in to the numbers. But rather:
1) List those who earned an allocation for the conference, but failed to reach that placing at their qualifier
2) List those who 'stole' the above wrestler's allocation
and
3) List all automatic qualifiers for NCAA's after conference weekend.

Here are the NCAA Allocations

Since the time the above graph was publish, a few changes have been made:
Emilio Saavedra, CJ Cobb, and Dawson Peck earned allocations but did not compete in their conference tournament. As such, one Wild Card at 133, one at 149, and one at 285 have been added to the total (national) number of at-large selections now available. Additionally, the number of allocations for each of their respective conference's weight class dropped by one; the MAC now has just 5 at 133, EIWA 4 at 149, and Big Ten now has 6 at 285.

Who's In = Everyone who officially qualified for NCAA's.
Who's Out = Those who earned an allocation, but didn't perform to the conference's allocation threshold.
