Every week the ASICS FloRankings come out, and every week someone is making a case for a wrestler to be ranked.
There are plenty of guys who are right on the cusp of breaking into the top 20, but most people have no idea who these guys are. Well, we dug through our Honorable Mention list and pulled out the top unranked guys at each weight class. Some of the names listed are guys who “wrestled their way out of the rankings.” And there are other guys here that have earned spots and will be showing up in next week’s rankings. But we figured that it would be better to shine some light on the guys that are “right there” this week.
So, here our top unranked prospects at each weight.
Kurt McHenry
Mosha Schwartz
Colt Yapoujin
Christian Nunez
Cody Phippen
Hassan Johnson
Tristen Cortez
Cade Devos
Job Chisko
Commentary: These guys are pretty tough with a few of them showing up in the rankings at some point so far this year. In Kurt McHenry’s case, he’s got plenty of talent, which we saw at the Beast of the East when he came away with a runner-up finish, however, McHenry is a bit undersized. He’s come up against guys who just have the weight and strength advantage over him that keeps him from getting these big wins that he would need to break the rankings. Olguin proved he’s got the talent and was one of those guys who was ranked but a loss knocked him back out. Mosha Schwartz, Christian Nunez, Cody Phippen and Colt Yapoujin have all bounced in and out of the rankings.
Kyle Biscoglia
Jaxon Cole
Kellen McKenna
Tomas Guttierez
Justin Portillo
Anthony Cirillo
Colton Cummings
Quincy Monday
Commentary: When looking at this list the two names that stick out the most to me are Louie Hayes and Quincy Monday. Hayes was probably one of the most dominant guys to watch at Fargo this past year and Monday is as good as advertised. He took some tough losses this season at Powerade, specifically to Matty Parker who at the time was in the top 5. Monday was dangerously close to coming out on top in both the matches he had with Parker at Powerade, but a loss is still a loss and almost beating a top 5 guy doesn’t earn a ranking. Sadly, that’s one of the only times that we get to see Monday and that he gets that type of competition, but surely if he keeps wrestling like that he will find himself a spot in the top 20 at some point. A few other guys who we likes to say are “on the bubble” are Kellen McKenna, Jaxon Cole and Kyle Biscoglia. Biscoglia was ranked at 106, but switched midseason.
Paul Bianchi
Dalton Duffield
Ian Timmins
Joey Prata
Paul Konrath
Matt Devincenzo
Dan Moran
Commentary: OK, Jack Davis we heard you. I believe the phrase was “rank me.” Well alright, You’ve proved it. Davis is currently on the outside looking in, but that will be changing soon. Ian Timmins was on a strong path at Doc B, but his loss in the semis didn’t help his case. Plus, he’s another one of the guys that doesn’t have too many chance to prove it against elite competition during the year. Paul Konrath has been taking the year off or else he’d have a spot in the rankings. Dan Moran and Joey Prata met in the finals of Escape the Rock, which was won by Moran, knocking Prata out of the rankings. Prata plays it pretty close to the vest in his matches and doesn’t put it on guys as much as he probably can. He’s got some slick stuff, but it doesn’t always make it to the mat. Moran is another bubble guy. His win to Prata was a good one to have on his resume. Putting more of those in his pocket could result in some changes.

Frankie ValdezBrandon Cray
Andrew Wert
Devan Turner
Tim Kane
Alex Mackall
Commentary: Devon Turner, the dude that gave #1-ranked Nick Suriano a headache at Doc B. Not many people can do that so for that he deserves a hat tip. But there’s got to be more of those performances where his hand is raised instead in order for him to make an appearance in a top 20 spot. Frankie Valdez as Willie would say, “is darn tough.” Valdez is 1-1 against Joey Silva this season, so he’s got what it takes to go with some of the best.
Jacob Spiess
Trent Olson
Corey Shie
Kyran Hagan
Kellen Devlin
Commentary: Trent Olson is similar to his teammate Jack Davis, only Olson needs more wins to prove it, where Davis has a pretty strong case after beating Gerard Angelo. Jacob Spiess, Corey Shie and Kellen Devlin are another trio that have been in and out of the Top 20.
Mark McCormick
Jaime Hernandez
Beau Guffey
Alec Hagan
Commentary: Jaime Hernandez has a win over Brent Moore this year at Ironman and had a pretty good Fargo as well. He’s got a strong case, but the losses he took after he beat Moore at Ironman weaken that case.
Joe Lee
Rocky Jordan
Kevin Budock
Gavin Londoff
Chris Diaz
Josiah Rider
Greg Maxilla
Greg Brusco
Commentary: On two separate occasions I have had the pleasure of watching Greg Gaxiola push guys to the brink. He’s got a great gas tank and didn’t show any fatigue from making the move from 152 down to 145 against Clovis. Not afraid to say it, I am a Gaxiola fan. I like his style, his pace and his motor. Kevin Budock is another one of those guys with some great wins, specifically his UTB win over Jared Verkleeren. Budock as well as Joe Lee are tough guys and you can’t forget about Rocky Jordan who has a good baseline resume.
Cael McCormick
Jon Errico
Luke Weber
Robert Patrick
Foster Karmon
Abner Romero
Riley DeMoss
Nick Vestal
Kyle Cochran
Matt Malcom
Travis Stefanik
Commentary: Abner Romero is a tough dude. I guess it’s a testament to the Buchanan because he’s got a pretty relentless pace like Gaxiola. Nick Vestal, Kyle Cochran and Riley DeMoss are the other three guys here in similar situations as Romero.
Anthony Falbo
Noah Stewart
Chase Shiltz
Clay Lautt
Devin Kane
Jake Shaffer
James Handwerk
Dylan Barriero
Anthony Welsh
Haydn Maley
Tre Campbell
Josh McKenzie
Commentary: Max Dean will be in next update. He’s a multi-sport athlete that has a lighter off-season wrestling schedule. But a big win over Brandon Whitman last week proves his position. Josh McKenzie just lacks the resume. Has all the talent, just needs a few elite wins to get the ranking to go along with it all.
Trey Hartsock
Dean Drugac
Noah Adams
Ryan Parker
Kevin Snyder
Wyatt Koelling
Robert Winter
Francis Duggan
Commentary: Gregg Harvey has had some rough spots this season against elite competition. He got put through a buzzsaw at ETR against Michael Beard and also didn’t have much of a favorable finish at the Beast either. Wyatt Koelling is a bit frustrating. He’s super tough and talented, but some inconsistency is his issue. Francis Duggan has gone back and forth between 195 and 220 and took some losses that knocked him out of the rankings. Robert Winter was on his way up when he took a loss at ETR.
Darryl Aiello
Landon Pelham
Danny DeLorenzi
Zane Black
Nick Mosco
Quinn Miller
Commentary: Another guy that is likely to get in next update is DeLorenzi who just beat his second ranked wrestler of the year in Will Hilliard. DeLorenzi also pinned AJ Nevills this season.
Mansur Abdul-Malik
Chance Veller
Jacob Lill
Sammy Evans
Toby McBride, CO
Christian Rebottaro
Jake Beistel
Josh King
Dante Jiovenetta
Commentary: Tommy Killoran is talented. His match with #18-Eric Chakonis at ETR came down to one move that gave Chakonis the advantage in the first period which he road the rest of the way. Other than that, it was Killoran who dictated most of the match after that. If you ask me, heavyweight is one weight class where there are plenty of guys on the bubble that can pull off the upset and take someone’s spot since so many matches come down to just a couple of points.
