A few years ago, the idea of TOSU's lineup combination of Kyle Snyder at 197 and Thomas Haines at 285 had the makings of a dynamite 1-2 punch. Things have changed in Buckeye land. When Kyle Snyder won worlds and seemingly grew out of 197 it left both Nick Tavanello and Thomas Haines out of starting contention.

Haines, a 4-time PA State champ is heading back to his home state to wrestle for Lock Haven. Haines is currently a redshirt Freshman for the Buckeyes. He battled injuries last year, but this year has been solid in competition. His best win of note this year is over another former blue chip heavyweight, Brooks Black of Illinois.

Haines has incredible athleticism and mobility for a heavyweight. If he can maintain his health for the next three years he could be a real contender on the heavyweight scene. It's been a long road to find a final college home for Haines. The Solanco native verbally committed to Penn State initially but plans changed when PSU signed California heavyweight Nick Nevills.

Tom Ryan got into the details of Haines transfer and his decision to grant a release in the following interview:

Lock Haven tweeted out their excitement about Haines earlier today:
