Top 7 Upsets From The Southern Scuffle

Austin Bernard zeke moisey.jpg

You never know what's going to happen when you get 73 ranked wrestlers in one tournament.  The upsets weren't as prevalent as they were at Midlands, but there were still a BUNCH of surprising results with some major impact on rankings.

7) #4 George DiCamillo, UVA vs #9 Jordan Conaway, PSU

ConawayÂ’s pace proved to be too much late.

6) Archie Colgan, Wyoming vs #9 Dylan Cottrell, WVU

Colgan is quite talented, we know but the consistency hasnÂ’t been there.

5) #8 Jim Wilson, Stanford vs Tyler Marinelli, Gardner Webb

Wilson hasnÂ’t set the world on fire, but youÂ’d still expect him to win over a redshirting Marinelli.  He didnÂ’t.

4) #7 Jimmy Gulibon, PSU vs Cortland Schuyler, Lehigh

The 2 seed goes down in his first match against a very salty backup from Lehigh.

3) #1 Kyle Crutchmer, OSU vs Chandler Rogers, OSU

Welp, the 2nd stringer just beat the #1 guy in the country.

2) #2 Brian Realbuto, Cornell vs #16 Casey Kent, Penn

Kent has always been solid, but a win of this magnitude NOBODY saw coming.

1) #11 Zeke Moisey, WVU vs Steven Polakowski, Minnesota

Everything was going according to plan, then Zeke hit a wall head on! Then Zeke proceeds to rattle of a whopping SEVEN straight wins (over 4 PIAA Champs).
