We have only just begun and Joey McKenna is already shaking things up.
The expectations for the Stanford freshman were very high coming into this year and with his early season upset over #1-ranked Evan Henderson of North Carolina, things are looking up even more.
McKenna, who currently sits at #15 at 141-pounds, dominated his way to the finals with two pins and a technical fall before using a late takedown to edge Henderson, 4-3. When the late flurry took place there was about 20-seconds left, but he was able to get the takedown needed and hold on for the last few seconds to pull off the upset and win the Hokie Open at 141.
Joey McKenna’s dominant performance capped by knocking off top-ranked Henderson makes him our FloWrestler of the Week.
