Renato "Babalu" Sobral was one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC. He grew up wrestling and was the reigning Brazilian National Champion from 1998-2000 while making the full transition to the fight game.

In his MMA career he has fought on cards all over the world with one of his most notable appearances coming against Chuck Liddell at UFC 62 for the Light Heavyweight title. Since retiring from competition, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt runs Babalu's Iron Gym in Cerritos, CA where he is the head instructor.

Though he is deeply rooted in jiu-jitsu, his wrestling background is still alive and well.
