Match Of The Week: Raimo And Thomsen Put On A Show
With over 11,000 matches wrestled this past week inside the Fargodome it was hard to narrow it down to just one match of the week so we chose five to help you get through your work day.
5. 126lbs Semifinal-Austin Assad, Ohio vs. Kaden Gfeller, Oklahoma- Two former Fargo champions met in the semifinals for the right to once again wrestle on the big stage in a match that came down to the final seconds.
4. 182lbs Semifinal-Dylan Wisman, Virginia vs. Owen Webster, Minnesota- Missouri commit, Dylan Wisman, and fourth ranked Owen Webster found themselves in high scoring, non stop bout that left everyone on the turf in awe.
3. 113lbs Quarerfinal-Roman Bravo-Young, Arizona vs Andrew Alirez, Colorado- Roman Bravo-Young was the returning double champ and had already won his second Cadet Greco title when he found himself in 7-0 hole after the first period to Andrew Alirez. Bravo-Young was never fazed, and you won't belive how he responded.
2. 152lbs Round of 16- Hayden Hidlay, Pennsylvania vs. Evan Wick, California- Junior Greco champ and top ranked Hayden Hidlay was looking to double up, but 10th ranked Evan Wick had other plans. This one had a little controversy too as it appeared that Hidlay had picked up the tech late in the first period.
1. Our feature match comes to us from the 120lbs Cadet Freestyle final where Cadet Greco champ Nick Raimo of New Jersey was looking to double up on stop signs for the week against Iowa state champion Alex Thomsen. Both Raimo and Thomsen let all fly under the lights of the Fargo stage.
