Luke Pletcher Verbals To Ohio State!
Luke Pletcher Verbals To Ohio State!
The next big piece has fallen in the 2015 recruiting race. 2x Super 32 Champ, FloNationals Champ, 2x PA Champ and 3x PA finalist Luke Pletcher has made his decision to wrestle at Ohio State. The Latrobe HS product comes in as the #6 overall recruit for the class of 2016 and is ranked #2 at 132 pounds.
Pletcher is a great fit for Ohio State. He is extremely well rounded in all positions. On his feet his head hands defense can be difficult to penetrate and he has a variety of leg attacks. His hands and feet move very well together and he’s great at creating angles and setting up his attacks. Once guys are on his legs he has surprising body awareness and flexibility. He can redirect well, transitioning from short offense to a leg attack.
Pletcher projects as a 133 pounder at the next level. He is the first major verbal for Ohio State for this class.. He potentially could get thrust into duty right away with the incoming graduation of Johnni DiJulius looming.
We caught up with Luke to discuss his decision and why he chose Ohio State.
"When the whole process began, I knew once I found somewhere I wanted to be I would just know it. Everything felt right. It's somehwere I can see myself for the next 4-5 years of my life." Said Pletcher who will be a Senior this season. "On top of that my family has a hunting camp 30 minutes away from Columbus. I can be 4 hours from home or I can be 30 minutes away from family at the same time.
Luke opened up about his potential weight class for college.
"Right now it looks like 33. You never know things happen, maybe I need to go up. I don't think I could go 125."
Would Luke want to wrestle right away or is he looking for a redshirt? Luke disclosed his hopes for his first season at Columbus.
"Personally, I'd like to jump right in and start wrestling. Give me a couple months down there training and I'll be ready. That's not up to me, if the Coaches want me to redshirt then that's what I'll do."
