Nick Marable Denied Wrestle Off At 70KG
James Green got his answer quick enough.

Less than a week after Nick Marable did not compete at World Team Trials, it was announced by USA Wrestling that his request for a wrestle-off was denied.

Here is the release from USA Wrestling:

"USA Wrestling names James Green the World Team Member at 70 kg in men’s freestyle

USA Wrestling has named James Green (Lincoln, Neb./Titan Mercury WC), the winner of the 2015 U.S. World Team Trials at 70 kg/154 lbs. in men’s freestyle wrestling, as the World Team Member at 70kg. Green will represent the United States at the 2015 World Championships.

USA Wrestling’s Freestyle Sport Committee denied a request by 2015 U.S. Open champion Nick Marable (Morgantown, W.Va./Sunkist Kids) for a delay of competition for the Final Wrestle-off at 70 kg/154 lbs. in men’s freestyle wrestling for the 2015 U.S. World Championships Team.

Based upon the 2015 World Team Trials Procedures, Marable, as the U.S. Open champion at 70 kg, earned an automatic berth into the Final Wrestle-off of the U.S. World Team Trials in Madison, Wisconsin. However, Marable did not attend weigh-ins for the 70 kg weight class on Friday, June 12 due to reported injury and, pursuant to the 2015 World Team Trials Procedures, Marable made the request for delay of the Final Wrestle-off within 18 hours of the weigh-in."

This process is included in the 2015 World Team Trials Procedures, under IV. Delays or Replacement Due to Injury or Illness.  The bottom paragraph seems to outline the scenarios for which Nick was denied this opportunity.

Article IV reads as such in the Trials Procedures Document:

"IV. Delays or Replacement Due to Injury or Illness A. If, in any weight class or style, the athlete earning an automatic berth into the Final Wrestle-Off is unable to compete in the Final Wrestle-Off due to injury or illness, the wrestler may request of the style specific Sport Committee a delay of competition. The Sport Committee shall determine whether or not the delay shall be granted. The injury or illness must be certified in writing by a medical doctor approved by USA Wrestling. USA Wrestling approval of a medical doctor will not be unreasonably withheld.

If a request for delay of the Final Wrestle-Off is made within 18 hours of the weigh-in, the athlete will be required to weigh-in and make weight at the qualified weight and have the illness or injury certified in writing by a medical doctor approved by USA Wrestling; provided, however, that the Sport Committee may excuse this weigh-in requirement if the basis for delay is determined by the Sport Committee to be due to unforeseen or extenuating circumstances. The date and place of wrestle-off will be established by the National Coach with agreement of the athletes involved. If agreement cannot be reached, then the date and place of the wrestle-off will be determined by the appropriate Sport Committee. "

Essentially the Sport Committee must have determined that the delay was not a result of unforeseen or extenuating circumstances.  Whether this means they questioned the validity of the injury or not, we don't know for sure.  All we know for now is Marable is out for sure and Green is the guy.
