UWW Cadet Nationals: 54kg Stats and Video Game Attributes
This is one of my favorite wrestling seasons ever. 2015 freestyle season has produced/will produce three of the most entertaining domestic freestyle brackets you'll ever see:

74kg at UWW Junior Nationals (5/8-5/9) - Hall, Nolf, Marsteller, Chavez, Massa, Smith
54kg at UWW Cadet National (THIS WEEKEND) -
Lee, Fix, Gomez, Olivas
74kg at Senior World Team Trials (6/13-6/14) -
Burroughs, Taylor, Dake, Howe, Valencia

This weekend, we see installment #2, which features two wrestlers ranked in the p4p top 10 and the top four ranked wrestlers at 120lbs. Oh by the way, each wrestler is a former Cadet World Team member.

#1 Spencer Lee - p4p #2 high school wrestler in the country
#2 Daton Fix - p4p #8 high school wrestler in the country
#3 Austin Gomez - formerly ranked #1 at 113lbs.
#4 Cade Olivas - formerly ranked #1 at 106lbs

Below are video-game style graphics showing wrestler attributes. Perhaps they'll guide your predictions for this weight class.

Lee and Fix have wrestled before at UWW (FILA) Cadet Nationals...in 2013, when they were both 8th graders. Spencer Lee tech'ed Fix in that match, 13-2. Since that meeting, both Lee and Fix have gone on to win FILA Cadet National titles. Last year, Lee won Cadet Nationals at 50kg and would go on to win the Cadet World Championship; Fix won Cadet Nationals last year at 54kg but DNP at Cadet Worlds.

Recently, Daton Fix avenged a loss vs Yianni Diakhomihalis (#2 at 126lbs) to win a FloNationals title, and just weeks ago he walked through a UWW Juniors field filled with NCAA d1 starters and national qualifiers.

Stylistically, we should see a great clash of tenacious offense (Lee) vs savvy defense (Fix). This should be a great showing of strength vs athleticism.

"The other guys." Both ranked #1 in their weight classes before making the jump up in weight to 120lbs, Austin Gomez and Cade Olivas can also boast making Cadet World teams. In fact, Cade Olivas can go one step further as he actually placed bronze at the Cadet World Championship in 2013. Had they wrestled any other weight class, they'd be favorites to win a 2015 Cadet Nationals title...but considering the top two in this weight, both wrestlers will enter Akron as underdogs. Gomez has the best showing as of late, coming in 4th at UWW Juniors 55kg (the same weight class Daton Fix won).

Like Lee and Fix, Gomez and Olivas wrestled at FILA Cadet Nationals in 2013. For much of that match, Cade Olivas was the aggressor; he took Gomez down a variety of times. It was three strong guts in a row, however, that won for Gomez that match by score of 8-6. This time around, I'll take Cade.

FINAL PREDICTION: 1. SPENCER LEE 2. DATON FIX 3. CADE OLIVAS 4. AUSTIN GOMEZ
