The son of American wrestling legend and Oklahoma State head coach, John Smith, Jo Jo Smith has had wrestling in his blood since he was born, and he's lived up to the hype. John finished his high school career as a four time Oklahoma state placer, and two-time champion. Jo Jo finished his career as four-time finalist, and three-time Oklahoma state champion.

Much like his dad Jo Jo has found success on the freestyle level placing three times at Fargo, and once at FILA juniors.

Jo Jo's most successful year in high school very well may have been this year. Smith beat nationally ranked Miguel Barreras on his way to a Geary Invitational title, won the KC Stampede by beating #9 and Virginia Tech commit Dayton Racer, majored Oklahoma commit Hayden Hansen in the state finals, beat #4 and Pennsylvania state champ Josh Shields at Dapper Dan, and pinned #11 and FloNationals champ Connor Flynn at the Missouri Border Brawl

The one chink in Smith's armor has been Larry Early. Early has beaten Smith three straight times, each one in a different style. Early was Smith's lone setback this year at Who's #1

Jo Jo will be staying in Stillwater and wrestling for his dad next season. It will be fun to watch Jo Jo wrestle, and develop under his fathers watch.
