Semifinal Results and Notes:

125:
Thomas Gilman (IOWA) dec. Jordan Conaway (PSU), 5-4
Notes: Conaway led 4-3 in the 3rd but Gilman put some nice things together for the winning score and rideout.

Nathan Tomasello (OSU) dec. Jesse Delgado (ILL), 3-2
Notes: NATO spent the first two periods stalking Delgado but came up empty. He was dinged a point for pulling on the headgear from bottom. Tomasello escape made it 2-1 with :51 and Tomasello took a crisp shot and scored it. Crowd erupted. Stall at :26 and Tomasello had to ride out and did.

133:
Chris Dardanes (MINN) dec. Cory Clark (IOWA), 4-2 OT
Notes: Not much to write about through regulation as it went to OT 1-1. Dardanes blew through a shot to give him the win on his feet.

Ryan Taylor (WISC)  dec. Jimmy Gulibon (PSU), 7-5 OT
Notes: Gulibon hustled through a flurry to score in the first, 2-0. Taylor R2 to start 2nd. In the 3rd and tied at 5 late. Taylor scores at the buzzer. Or does he? Was time out? Reviewed. No two. OT. Jimmy looks for an elbow off and Taylor BLASTS through a double!

141:
Logan Stieber (OSU) dec. Anthony Ashnault (RU), 5-1
Notes: Ashnault is game and is fighting and taking attacks. But Logie...quickness, slickness, and technique. Two takedowns to zero after two periods. Logan rides out the third with over 5 minutes RT.

Josh Dziewa (IOWA) dec. Nick Dardanes (MINN), 5-1
Notes: Stall warning on Dziewa a minute in. He's keeping distance. But Dziewa scored somehow (embarrasingly enough, I missed it). Dziew 3-1 after a second period escape. Dardanes goes neutral in 3rd. Dardanes doesn't have typical Dardanes pace. Dziewa goes duck and into a single. Standing single pulls Dardanes back into the middle and converts! 5-1 and Dardanes looks done! Rideout Dziewa!

149:
Brandon Sorensen (IOWA) dec. Alec Panteleo (MICH), 2-0
Notes: Scoreless first where neither looked to be close. Sorensen leads 1-0 and nearly has 2min RT into the 3rd where Pantaleo goes neutral. He can't get anything through Sorensen's defense.

Jason Tsirtsis (NW)  inj. def. Hunter Stieber (OSU)

157:
Isaiah Martinez (ILL) dec. Doug Welch (PUR), 11-6
Notes: IMar and Welch trade scores. Welch wins a scramble for his. 4-4 midway through the bout. IMar hits his groove; scores two takedowns in the last minute. Welch picks down for the 3rd with IMar leading 8-5. IMar rides nearly the entire period.

Dylan Ness (MINN)  dec.  James Green (NEB), 6-5
Notes: Ness in on a low shot and converts early. Green out after :23 and blows through a shot. Works on a cradle but just gets the 2. Ness to his feet a couple times but Green rides out. 3-2 ind of 1. Green underneath and wins a battle of hips. 5-3 Green to end 2. Ness goes down. He's out w/ Green holding :52 RT. Ness picks up the pace. Stall on Green. Green falls into a shot. Ness counters with cradle to lead. Green almost reverses but Ness recovers! Classic Ness-Green!

165:
Bo Jordan (OSU) dec. Pierce Harger (NW), 6-1
Notes: No wasting time for Bo. Head inside scores seconds in. He rides for a minute for Harger gets out. Another TD and ride out. 4-1 for Bo. Reversal and a ride out ends the 2nd for BoJo who has 3mins RT. Harger shooses top.

Isaac Jordan (WISC) dec. Taylor Walsh (IU), 6-5
Notes: Zeke scores in the first :15. His second TD is a low single but Walsh hits a switch right away and goes to work on top. He rides out and is kicked lose to start the second when he chooses down. Square at 4. Otherwise scoreless period. Zeke takes his feet in the 3rd. :46 RT for Walsh. Zeke posts elbows and blows through a crisp double. 6-5 after the escape with :45.

174:
Robert Kokesh (NEB) dec. Logan Storley (MINN), 2-1
Notes: Low single by Bob a minute in but good heavy whizzer by Storley. Scoreless first. Good hustle on bottom by Storley and just as good effort on top by Kokesh who rides for 1:26. Kokesh goes on bottom. He kicks free holding 1:14 RT. Storley on the clock.

174: Matt Brown (PSU) dec. Mike Evans (IOWA), 2-0
Notes: Snooze fest first. Brown E1 after :19 Brown snatches a single with :20 left but Evans passes a leg. Brown not doing much up there, but he's trying for the ride out. And he gets it.

184:
Brett Pfarr (MINN) dec. Matt McCutcheon (PSU), 5-3
Notes: A deep McCutcheon shot, but Pfarr counters and opens the scoring. They trade escapes until late in the 3rd when McCutcheon scores to make it 4-3. He cuts him to try and get another one but can't.

Domenic Abounader (MICH) dec. Ricky Robertson (WISC), 6-1
Notes: Abounader has Robertson on a hip and locked through the crotch. He finishes though. And tacks on a late TD.

197:
Kyle Snyder (OSU) dec. Nathan Burak (IOWA), 3-2
Notes: Snyder actice early. In on a deep Hi-C. Burak tries to cut the corner and hangs on a leg but Snyder fights his hands and converts. 2-1 when Burak goes underneath in the 2nd. Tied at 2, Burak has a standing single and SOMEHOW Snyder eludes the takedown. Crowd applauds. 3-2 with a Snyder escape in the 3rd. Not much of a push by Burak at the end.

Morgan McIntosh (PSU) dec. Scott Schiller (MINN), 5-4
Notes: Guess what McIntosh goes to early on Schiller...you guessed it...low single scores for him. Penalty point (for something) and McIntosh E1 has him staked to a 4-1 early in the second. Schiller with a quality shot but McIntosh passes the leg and it gets PD'd. Eggum challenges it. No change. Schiller underneath to start 3rd. He's out and an outside shot by him ties it! :23 when it's stalemated and Morgan with a great first move to win 5-4! A quiet match got interesting.

285:
Bobby Telford (IOWA)  dec. Connor Medbery (WISC), 3-1
Notes: Nothing doing in the first. Great movement underneath gets Medbery an early escape. Nothing the rest of the period and Telford out quick to start 3rd. Medbery with a snatch single with short time but they move out of bounds. In OT, Telford has Medbery in front head and hits a sweet little ankle pick! Good move for the big guy.

Mike McMullan (NW) dec. Adam Coon (MICH), 7-6
Notes: McCullan shot and Coon counters to rear standing. McMullan out right away and Pariano will challenge. Call stands. 2-1 Adam who makes it 3-1 with an early 2nd period escape. He's in on a nice snatch single but runs out of real estate. McMullan ties it momentarily with a reversal, followed by Coon E1. 4-3. And then an AMAZING exchange; McMullan in on low single, Coon too much weight for him. But McMullan kind of dips out of it and under Coon's arm. 5-4 McMullan. Coon out. Tries to go upperbody but McMullan counters! What a match!

Consi Semi Notes:

125: Lambert reverses Delgado and gets NF2! Clark with a TD from front head on Richards. Conaway in deep on Youtsey in OT but stalemated. Delgado comes out the back door to tie it at 4 with Lambert! Rides out to force OT. Conaway rides out Youtsey for the win! Delgado shot and wins the scramble to complete the comeback.

133: Gulibon counters a bad JDJ shot. 2-2 and Gulibon has choice in 3rd.  JDJ put the crowd on it's feet with a crazy feet-to-back on Gulibon for the 7-3 win!

141: Abidin counters a super deep Ashnault shot for his own score. Another deep shot by Ashnault but Abidin works his way out of it. Nice low leg attack converted by Ashnault to cut it to 4-2.

149: Hunter is wrestling! Langenderfer comes right at him and it's obvious the elbow is bothering him. 2-0 Langenderfer. Good action by Hunter on restart who takes the lead with a takedown of his own. Beitz-Pantaleo scoreless after 1. Langenderfer has Hunter in the air but Stieber eludes the takedown with some crazy cartwheel! Pantaleo scores and has choice in 3rd. Pantaleo 3-1 over Beitz. Hunter takes a double but is stuck in the middle. He's sucking it up. Great strength by him as he's almost behind. But Langenderfer throws a headlock! He gets the stick!

157: Nice level change by Demas to score on Welch. 5-2 final for him. Green takes down Murphy inside of a minute. He takes a roll through tilt for NF but then transitions for the first period fall.

165: Harger scores moments in on Sutton. Walsh scores on a little shuck on Morse. 4-1 for him with a boatload of RT going to the 3rd. Harger cruises 9-0.

174: Brunson-Evans on. Martin-Storley, too. Brunson almost has reversal midway through 2nd but Evans gets his hips back over. Scoreless going to the 3rd. Evans close to a score but they get all tangled up. Martin escapes in early 2nd. Evans wins on 1:33 RT. Martin riding tough. He has RT! Crowd applauds! Storley dives underneath and starts a scramble. He gets height for a 4pt play! 4-1 final.

184: Dudley-McCutcheon on. Robertson-Brooks. Brooks drags to a single for the score. McCutcheon wins a LONG scramble that turns into nearfall too. Brooks E1 and another TD to go up 5-0 halfway. 9-1 final for McCutcheon. Brooks 6-1 final with over 3min RT.

197: Huntley fires out of the gates with a takedown on Burak. But Burak scores one at the 1st period buzzer to lead 3-2. Schiller scores early on Koepke. Burak beautiful finish on the edge. They'll review it. Over turned?! But Burak hangs on 4-3. Schiller doing a lot of riding leading 5-2.

Round I Notes:
125: Rogaliner (MSU) barrel rolled Gilman (Iowa) to open up scoring. But it was all Gilman after that as he got the major. Luke Welch (PUR) took down Polacek (MD) at the buzzer. Tomasello (OSU) opened things up with Jimenez (WISC) with a late second period takedown. A good sign for Delgado (ILL) as he was very active.

133: DiJulius (OSU) got the hometown crowd on their feet with a fall. Bruno (MICH) worked up a leg to score first against Montoya (NEB). Montoya hit a shrug to tie it with :20 left but there was 1:01 riding time when he escaped. Sabatello (PUR) scored the winning TD late over Delvecchio (RUT)

141: Kade Moss (PSU) scored a late TD to take a 4-3 lead over Purdue's Nick Lawrence. They went out of bounds with :04 left and Lawrence escaped and scored the winning points on his first shot in OT. Ashnault (RUT) scored quick on Shyheim (MD). Thielke (WISC) got a pin over Steven Rodriguez (ILL). Dziewa (IOWA) was super crafty in win over Gasca (MSU).

149: All eyes on Hunter Stieber (OSU). Both elbows wrapped and a dominant first period en route to a 10-7 win . Sorensen scored a late second period takedown on Short who appeared hurt as the match wore on. Justin Arthur (NEB) scored a late takedown to knock off Ben Dorsay (MD). Northwestern's returning National Champ, Jason Tsirtsis had a tight 3-2 win over Langenderfer (ILL).

157: Michigan's Brian Murphy schored a quick fall. Anthony Perotti (RU) had a quick takedown on Luke Frey but gave up a reversal end the period ended tied at 2. A Perotti R2 gave him a 4-2 lead going to the 3rd. Then, what else? A Frey reversal tied things back up. Perotti escaped at the buzzer, but Frey had RT. So we go to OT. Perotti close to 2! Not called. Challenge upheld. (Looked like 2 to me). Frey wins it with a reversal in rideouts.

Mascola (MD) took a big (6-1) lead on Mike Kelly to the 2nd period. Kelly rallied back. It was 8-7 Mascola in the third. Kelly tied it up with a take and would have won on RT but Mascola kicked lose with 1 sec. left! Kelly almost scored on a knee tap. Mascola fired off a low single and almost scored at the buzzer! On to rideouts. Kelly rides out. Mascola doesn't! WOW! Should Maryland have challenged? Interesting question. Darn close.

165: In a minor upset, Austin Wilson (NEB) majored Minnesota's Nick Wanzek. For the second straight weight, an Iowa wrestler found himself in a hole. Nick Moore trailed 5-2  after two periods to Pat Robinson, who is 12-14 on the season. A little slide by from Robinson gave him a 7-3 with :45 as he took out last year's Big Ten Runner-Up.

174: Another last second escape and another barnburner between Indiana's Nate Jackson and Purdue's Chad Welch. Jackson scored a takedown in the second OT.

184: Rutgers' Anthony Pafumi scored first blood on Tim Dudley (NEB). But Dudley battled back to win major.  Kenny Courts (OSU) hit a jaw-dropping firemans on Northwestern's Mitch Sliga. He looked ultra sharp.

197: In one of the best opening round bouts, Timmy McCall (WISC) pulled away from Atwood (PUR) late. Polizzi (NW) defaulted to Nick McDiarmid (MSU). Rutgers' Hayden Hrymack nearly had Aaron Studebaker (NEB) and went on to win 6-3.

285: Billy Smith (RUT) opened up the second period with a R2 on Tavanello (OSU). He then cradled him up for NF2. Impressive performance by him with more NF in the 3rd.
