After another title defense, in one of the biggest fights in MMA history, Jon Jones has hit an all-time low. Jon "Bones" Jones is headed to rehab.
According to MMA Junkie, on December 3rd Jones tested positive for benzoylecgonine which is a metabolite of cocaine.
So why was Jones allowed to compete? Simple, benzoylecgonine is not a banned substance according to the World Anti-Doping Agency. So Jones was allowed to fight.
The UFC released the following statement.
“While we are disappointed in the failed test, we applaud him for making this decision to enter a drug treatment facility. Jon is a strong, courageous fighter inside the Octagon, and we expect him to fight this issue with the same poise and diligence. We commend him on his decision, and look forward to him emerging from this program a better man as a result.”
