Devin Carter Headed To 141
Devin Carter Headed To 141

After giving it a go the first few weeks, the Hokies are calling an audible. Devin will begin his descent down to 141 pounds and will be eligible to wrestle there by Cliff Keen Las Vegas.
Carter's move down allows for the Hokies to bolster a much superior lineup allowing Sal Mastriani into the fold at 149. While Mastriani did beat Carter head to head, very few would view him as a relative upgrade to the two time All American.
That being said, Mastriani in the lineup makes the Hokies even more dangerous than before. Sal notched wins over Matt Frisch and Christian Barber at the Hokie Open, and will potentially enter the rankings around 15 when he earns the starting job in December.
This move also allows Solomon Chishko a year to redshirt and mature instead of being thrust into duty his true Freshman season. Carters impact at 141 will be felt immediately. Many will be excited to see him compete a season fully health and give the likes of Mitchell Port and Logan Stieber a true challenge.
Here's the match that likely lead to this decision being made.
